Notifications randomly stopped working with no changes to settings.

Have done a restart of iPhone and Vivoactive 3. Still not working. All settings seem correct. Instead of notifications it’s now telling me when my phone is connected/ disconnected.
On my Vivosmart HR+ I get some notifications like football scores or weather alerts but no longer getting text messages or email notifications. There have been no firmware updates for some time so it must be the GC app. I have iPhone XR with latest IOS.
