Forerunner 935 weather app issue “waiting for data”

My watch weather app doesn’t display weather data. It only shows a display of “waiting for data”. When I got the watch it worked. Now it does not. How do I remedy this?

  • Very interesting. I just check my phone diagnostics as well and found the same to be true. 

  • Having the same issue with my current 935 and it has been this way for quite some time. Would anyone be able to tell me how to check the app diagnostics to see if the same issue with regards to whether being though is for my app also. Thanks.

  • Not sure about the English terminology (using Swedish version of app), but using my own translations I find it under:

    =>“More” (three dots in the bottom of the screen, right-hand side)
    =>”Settings”

    =>”App diagnostics” (Second to last item on settings page...)

  • Had the same issue pop up for me - Garmin Support had me remove the device from Garmin Connect, and re-pair/reconnect the device. I'll say I had NO faith that would do it, but it solved my issue. And again - when doing this, ONLY use the Garmin Connect mobile app to remove/reconnect - do not mess with or use the phone bluetooth settings at all. I had some concern that I'd lose data by doing this, but nope - all was good. The only minor inconvenience was having to re-install my two credit cards I use with Garmin Pay. But that was it.

    Thanks for your update. For the life of me I cannot figure out how to remove my “device” from Garmin Connect (assuming you mean the mobile app?)

  • Garmin Connect update came today as v4.26.0.20 and low and behold, the weather app on my 935 v15.10 has been restored!

    would anyone else mind verifying their software if they notice the widget is up and running on their device?

    It looks like you posted this four months ag. any chance you have had a solution. Mine has worked fine from December through to yesterday. Now weather app is "waiting for date. Have re-started phone, repaired the devices and re-started the watch. No luck  Disappointed

  • This worked for me: Find your device in Garmin Connect -> Activities and App Management -> Widgets, uninstall the weather widget, sync, install weather widget, sync

    I later noticed that the weather only updates when I run the connect app.  The app needs location to get weather updates and send to the watch, however I realized that the location permissions for the app are only when running (android), which means the background service responsible for getting and updating weather data does not have permission for location.  Changing to location permission to Always fixed that issues as well.  It also may have been the only fix I needed
