Activity minutes

I recently discovered that when I work out using only my Fenix6X f.ex when I do indoor biking GC shows activity minutes, and my work out heart rate shows in daily summary.

But if I do outdoor biking using my Edge 1030 there is NO activity minutes at all, and my work out heart rate is not shown in daily summary.

I am pretty shure this started with an update of GC august 22. Before that I see that everything was fine. Take a look at the pictures. Anybody else having similar experience?

Both Fenix 6 and Edge 1030 records activity as normal, and I get my training status perfect synced between the two units. BUT no activity minutes from 1030. Strange!

  • The 1030 doesn't record activity minutes. Only certain wearables do.

  • Well it did until August 21. As you can see on the Pictures.

  • No, it never did.  See forums.garmin.com/.../900836

I suspect you're seeing activity minutes tracked by your Fenix using the optical heart rate monitor.

My Vivoactive 3 did this also ... when I was riding and tracking the ride on my 1030, even though I didn't have an activity running on the watch, it picked up the fact that I was exerting myself and tracked the minutes.

  • So how can it be that EVERY outdoor bike ride I have had before August 21 is recorded? And how can OHR on my watch read my pulse when mounted on bike bracket? (as I sometimes do)

I dont mean that 1030 is actually calculating activity minutes, but gc ignore pulse recorded on 1030. It is there when I check my activity summary, but earlier that pulse variation during activity was used to calculate activity minutes. I see back in my activity history that every ride generated activity minutes.

Last but not least, when I do indoor biking I always get Activity minutes calculatet after Activity. I only use my fenix then, but mounted on the bike like a bike computer using garmin rubber bracket. Not using OHR. I use HRM-TRI on both indoor and outdoor biking.
