Bug: Can't copy GPX file into Connect app to create a course when offline

When I have a GPX file on my mobile device, and I click the action "Copy to Connect", Connect fails to create a course if the mobile device is offline (for example in airplane mode). The error message is something like "Oops! Something went wrong loading your courses." It makes sense that loading courses would fail with no internet, but I should still be able to create a new course. The current behavior severely limits the Connect app when using in the backcountry, or other areas with limited network connectivity.

Using Garmin 4.22.2.1, iOS 12.4

  • Yes I am having the same issue. Garmin Connect shouldn't rely on internet for uploading a course to a Garmin device. Limited network connectivity is real thing when in the backcountry or abroad.

  • Yes I agree. I also think you should be able to sync the watch workout data to the phone without a connection. Obviously it can't show you maps etc but you should be able to see the data on the phone. You also cannot send a GPX from Connect to a 66 which seems a bit bonkers
