Intensity Minutes overstating

Former Member

In the last week my IM has been overstated. Never had a problem before and changed no settings.

Fenix 5 and Garmin HRM strap.

Today did a 120 minute recovery ride - never going over 60% of my MHR  - and i got 20 intensity minutes.

This totally screws up my training having inaccurate stats.

  • Do you know for certain that the intensity minutes came from that ride? Did you look at your daily HR graph to see if it has any odd spikes outside the training session.

As far as I know, intensity minutes are calculated all the time from your heart rate, not only when you are doing a logged training session. So if you for example have walked a lot of stairs during the day, that could explain it.

Or if you removed your HRM strap after the session, while it was still connected to the watch, it may have caused recording of a false HR at 200+ BPM for some minutes outside the session.
