Is there a way to see a monthly sleep average?

After the latest update, which changed the appearance of the Sleep section, I noticed I can’t see an average for the whole month. I can only see the daily and weekly average.

I just got my Garmin last April and I’ve enjoyed the app a lot so far, but I have to be honest in saying that the new Sleep interface doesn’t look right compared to the stress, heart rate, and weight interface where you can see a 12m view and see each months avg. Maybe it’s my personal taste but I feel something’s missing there.

Is there a way to see this again that I haven’t found out yet or can it be possible in the future?

  • I was looking for the same thing and did not find it. Garmin, please help!

  • This still seems to be the case. Any progress on this?

  • So over two years on this post and no attention seems to have been given, seeing that all remains the same. Disappointed  I'll add some images to illustrate how useful the monthly avg. sleep could be and how other sections help when wanting a general view of the data. Hopefully this will catch the attention that it deserves.

You can see how the Stress and Steps charts allow a yearly view in the Mobile App that shows an average of that month. While the Steps report does show a weekly avg. it also gives the option to see the month's too. The same goes in the Web reports.

For sleep, the Mobile App only gives you a daily and weekly data, but no 4 weeks or yearly view like the others do. Then in the Web you can see a yearly view, but no exact monthly total. Instead you get a yearly view, but when it comes to the actual data it's split up in weeks.

What I wish to see is a yearly view – at least in the Web version – that tells me the avg. hours of sleep of the entire month. Not broken down in weeks. If I were to get a monthly avg. I would need to convert the hours into minutes and add the rest of the minutes, then look for the avg. and convert the result back to hours. If you know a better formula please share! Laughing

  • Perfect explanation - I want this too - seems so basic.

  • Still no evolution about a simple but yet very important feature like this one...

  • As a workaround, you can see the average sleep duration for individual months, as well as for entire years, in Insights:

  • This is marvelous! I still would prefer to see this in my phone—unfortunately the Insights in Connect App won’t display hours when tapped. Nevertheless, this is the next best thing to that. Thank you very much for sharing !

  • On a web browser:

You go under "Reports" then to "Health & Fitness" then click on "Sleep Duration" and then click on "1 year" and below on the bottom right will show your Avg Total Sleep.

It will not let me post a screenshot, but I FINALLY figured it out :)

  • Thanks, yes this seems to work. Though I still wish it would be of easy access in mobile app like it is for HR, Stress, Weight, etc.

I changed my watch last year and now I can see my Sleep Score. That feature does have the yearly graph in the app but doesn’t display hours. It’s good enough for avg. sleep quality—given the watch does a good job tracking and I don’t forget to wear it.

Something I did find out about your suggestion (as well as for the screenshot I uploaded) is that when seeing the yearly stats it’s best to see it at the end of the year, or it’ll add days of the previous year to that avg. Unfortunately there’s no option to choose from which date one’d like to see the average, just a fixed timeframe.
