Old FR25 continuously tries to reconnect/pair

Hi

When my son bought a new FR 245 his old FR 25 was passed on to his sister. The FR 25 was removed from his Garmin account as well as forgotten among the BT devices on his phone.

The FR 25 is now connected to his sisters Garmin connect account and works well there.

But whenever he opens Garmin connect on his iPhone and she is nearby with here watch it tries to pair again with his phone/Garmin connect - prompting him to enter a pin code that shows up on here FR25. There seems to be now way of stopping this, which is quite annoying.

Or is there something we have missed? Or does anyone recognise this issue and have a solution?

Best regards

Stefan

  • - You will need to make sure the watch has been removed from the Bluetooth Settings and the Garmin Connect App.

Removing and Adding a Fitness Device in the Garmin Connect App

  • Hi

thanks for the advices. We have done exactly as the instruction says on removing a device from Garmin Connect as well as forgetting the Bluetooth device from iOS settings.

just now when my son synced his 245 his sisters FR25 again tries to pair in the Garmin connect app. When we click cancel it takes about two seconds until the pop up is there again asking us to pair and enter code. When we shift to iOS settings/Bluetooth the FR 25 is now visible under Bluetooth devices as connected but without the exclamation mark “!” next to it that you should click to say it should be forgotten.

  • Hi again,

No more advices? Should I consider the behavior to be normal and just to get on with it? ;-)

  • I have the same with garmin fenix 6/7

  • Hi, has any solution been found. I have a similar issue with Venu sq. @Garmin please take note and respond!!!!!!!!

It is highly annoying as one cannot use the app with the old device nearby. And as to the suggestions about forgetting and unpairing the device, that has been successfully done as otherwise if would not have connected to a new Garmin Connect account on a different device.

    Expecting a prompt resolution

  • You can connect a watch to a new phone without removing it from the old phone, but usually not while the watch is connected to the old phone.

Restart the old phone and check in bluetooth devices that the watch really is removed.

If that doesn't work then do a factory reset of the old phone.

  • I have this very problem, I used to have a Fenix 5 Plus, gave it to my son when I got an Epix 2, but ever since when I'm in range the Fenix keeps trying to reconnect to my iPhone when Connect app is open, I have removed it from my account, reset the Fenix, my son has it set up on his own account, but it is still doing it. It's so frustrating. Would really appreciate if anyone has a fix?

  • Has this been sorted yet? Same problem for me with my old Fenix 5+. Removed it from my phone, did a factory reset on the watch and it still keeps trying to reconnect to my phone! It makes using Garmin Connect impossible when it’s in range

  • Have you removed the watch from bluetooth in the phone? Just removing it from Garmin Connect is not enough.

  • I removed it at the time but now connects without the option to remove it (see screenshot). Other connected devices have a blue ‘i’ which allow you to ‘forget device’
