I bought a Garmin 520+ as I was told Garmin was the industry standard as far as bike computers go, and the 520+ had all the features I needed.
I set up Auto Start for LiveTrack, and connected it to Strava Beacon too, for good measure. This failed to work.
I did some research and discovered the Auto Start functionality has been broken for months for many people, so I tried turning it on manually for the next ride. This seemed to send out emails, but clicking on the link just ended up opening a map in the middle of the ocean with no telemetry at all. Opening the Connect app up on the phone shows the live LiveTrack screen with a "Network Connection Error" banner across the top. The phone has 4G signal and can browse the internet fine.
Setting the Extend LiveTrack switch on this live screen also seemed to have zero effect, as after I completed the ride and followed the email link, it says the session has expired.
So setting the LiveTrack manually also failed to work, despite repeated attempts, resetting the 520+, logging out and uninstalling the app, etc.
What other steps can I try to get this device working as advertised?
The App is showing as having all the permissions it needs to have.
Camera is ON
Contacts is ON
Location is ON (and set to Always)
Calendar is ON
Background App Refresh is ON
Mobile Data is ON
I noticed the Strava Beacon switch failing to save its state is supposed to be getting a fix.
