trying to download GPX files for cycling.. they will go to
Planet Earth app.. but won't download to Garmin Connect.. repeatedly shows " error" message.. try again. Ideas?
  • I’m also having a hard time downloading (uploading?) GPX course files created in MapMyRide into Garmin Connect. When I export from MMR via Safari using my iPad Mini, I get a new tab that gives me the option to "Open in Connect". Once I click on that, it’s anybody's guess as to what I’ll get. If Connect is closed, it will open. But most of the time I get the opening screen - My Day, and that's it. If I leave Connect open and go back to Safari and re-click the Open link, I almost always get a box saying "Oops". From there it’s a crapshoot. Close Connect. Close the Safari tab. Click again. Sometimes it eventually works, sometimes not.

If I then go to my iPhone, open MapMyRide in Safari, and then try to export the course, I usually have success. But what a pain.

Now, to add another issue...once the course is in Connect, it has a default name which is the date. It used to be easy to load the course and change the name. Now, you have to bring up the course, scroll (carefully and slowly) to the bottom of the screen where you can Edit the course, including the name. But...it doesn’t always take the name. About half the time, after changing the name, there’s no way to save it. Previously this could all be done using the three vertical dots menu in the upper right.

Whew! I’d be interested if others are having similar issues...and frustrations.

  • Bumping this thread. On my ipad, I have the option to download a mapmyride gpx track. Then I can copy it to connect (road cycling—-> create course). BUT on my iphone, the option to download gpx does not appear. So I have to create the course on the ipad then use my phone to pick this up and upload it to my garmin. Bonkers.

Why does iphone version of mmr not allow gpx download? Any ideas?
