I've got a FR 645 (non-music) and used to use Jaybird brand earbuds to listen to music from my phone when running. I would get the lap announcements through the earbuds. I've now switched to Jabra brand earbuds and changed nothing else, but don't get the audio prompts. I checked in Connect mobile app and audio prompts are still set to on. So, has anyone had this or similar experience and is there a work-around/fix?
Since the last GCM update, I think, me too with the 935. I turn voice prompts back on before every run and half the time I start running and they've already turned themselves back off again. Pretty frustrating when you depend on the feedback for laps and HR. Glad to discover this post. I was driving myself nuts uninstalling and reinstalling and restarting and whatever else I could think of to try to get them working consistently again.
I have the same problem. If I turn on the audio prompts they’ll work for that run. After run is over and watch synchs the audio prompts are turned off in Connect App. Super frustrating to try to remember to turn them on before every run. I sent en email to support. If they answer I’ll post here.

IOS 12.2 b6, iP 7+ - seeing exactly the same issue here
Having the same issue w/ my Garmin FR235, iPhone 7 & GCM. It seems to forget the I have toggled Audio prompts to 'On' and I have to do it manually before/during each run.
I wrote to Garmin about the problem- they are ignoring it???? even if you turn the option before going out, sometimes after few miles it goes off again!?
I have tested the update and it worked fine at this morning's parkrun and the setting has been retained since I set it. I contacted Garmin via their Twitter account and they responded and added me to the trouble ticket they had open for this case. They notified my by email that the fix was in the latest update and requested that I test it, which I have done and I am happy with the fix.
