Heart rate/sleep does not sync + data from someone else

Hi everyone!

Yesterday I bought my first Garmin, a forerunner 235, I was so excited so I immediately started to wear it and installed Garmin connect. However, I started to notice Garmin connect did not show heart rate data, neither did it show sleep data (as I wore the watch through the night and synced it in the morning). I also noticed that if I clicked on the amount of steps I did, it suddenly said I did 0. I tried to solve this by deleting my watch from Garmin connect, Bluetooth and online on the site of Garmin. And after connecting it again. This didn’t work. After I did a soft reset, master reset and everything the internet told me, but it still does not work. How can I solve this?

Besides, I also noticed that there was data of someone else showing in Garmin connect from last October/November (heart rate and activities). I was already able to delete the activities, but the heart rate is still there. How is this possible (I didn’t buy the watch second hand)? And could this have anything to do with the previous problem?

And before I forget to mention it, my watch can receive signals from my phone (incoming texts fe) and it does measure heart rate and steps properly. So I think the issue is with the app, not the watch.
  • Just a hypothesis:

The watch comes out of the box with some random time and date set. When you put your watch on, it registered your daily activity data, but with incorrect time stamps. This is why you see data on another date. You think it's someone else's data, but in fact it is your data, only it has been recorded with some random date.

    Here's what you should do:
Make sure your watch time setting is set to auto, and then go outside and get a GPS fix. This will set the time of day and date to correct local time. From now on all your data should appear on garmin connect as expected.
  • Also, if you happen to have more than 1 Connect account make sure you're logged into the right one both in mobile and the web..
  • I have the same problem since yesterday and my watch fr 735xt is a couple of years I use it with the latest version of Garmin connect app on a iPhone X with iOS 12.1.3. I have contacted Garmin via e-mail. Any other suggestions that might help?
