Sending Workouts/Training Plans to devices (started happening recently)

It used to work fine, for a long time, but now I cannot send structured workouts to 935 anymore. GC Mobile and 935 find each other and synchronize, but GC Mobile cannot send neither a structured workout nor the calendar with workouts. I tried starting the sync from the 935, using wifi our bluetooth; in both cases it syncs, "transfers" and "updates", but the workouts do not appear in 935.

The only way to send a structured workout is to connect the 935 using the USB cable and then send it using Garmin express, which is cumbersome.

I already tried the normal things such as switching on and off the 935, Garmin Connect Mobile, and unpairing the 935 from the phone and adding the 935 just after. I also cleaned all history so that memory isn't a problem.

It may be a coincidence, but apparently this problem started after the 935 software was upgraded to v12.

Thanks.

I'm seeing the exact samme issue on the F5 with the iOS Garmin Connect App.
I have reported it during the Beta stage of the V12 firmware, but it's not fixed yet.

I also have to use the USB cable to transfer Structured Workouts and Calendar Events to the Watch - annoying...

  • I'm seeing a similar issue with my brand new Fenix 5S (Android Garmin Connect App).
I can't send my training calendar or workouts to my device via the app, however, I've also been unable to do so via usb/garmin express (Mac).

This is really disappointing as I've been loving the watch so far, but glitch like this without any errors indicated is frustrating (and based on history of posts clearly an ongoing issue for Garmin developers).

I was actually getting pretty annoyed with myself at first as I had been following instructions for the extremely user-unfriendly process but not having any success. I suppose the good news is my frustration is likely a software issue rather than my own inability to determine if the 'send to device' button is somehow NOT the correct button to send workout/calendar to device.

I'm seeing a similar issue with my brand new Fenix 5 sapphire with Android Garmin Connect App.
I can't send my training calendar or workouts to my device via the app, however, i don't have any issues via usb/garmin express on windows.
Since I have wifi on the watch i tried building the workout on Garmin connect PC and syncing via wifi to the watch and that is also a no go.

I got this a little before Christmas and since then i don't believe that it has worked since the update to V12 happened at the setup process. I believe the idea being the watch software causing the issue to be true and not the android app.

I have a buddy that also has a fenix 5 and he is not having any issues, he is also on version 12 watch software.

Yep having the same issues. I also just asked in the forum if it was possible to use the run setting on the watch and somehow make that count as my run for the Garmin coach??
  • Mario.C22 Do you have the 5+ or just the 5 - I have 5+ and no issues transferring workouts on Android either workouts created by me or the Garmin Coach ones

In my case, the app runs on the latest iOS in a iPhone 8. Interestingly, there are other bugs to report, which appeared with v12:

--- USB in 935 making MacBook Bluetooth crash. After connecting the 935 to the USB cable, sometimes the bluetooth of my Macbook (recent one) becomes wrecked and all bluetooth devices are disconnected. Perhaps it is the Garmin daemon running on the MacOS? Or the 935? I reproduce the fault with some high probability after connecting the USB. Perhaps the unit runs some bluetooth-related algorithm and the buggy protocol implementation breaks the Bluetooth communication.

By the way, just found the following warning on my system console:
    Jan 7 19:24:48 MacBook-Pro-5 bluetoothd[126]: notify name "com.apple.bluetooth.sensorTracking.stateChanged" has been registered 80 times - this may be a leak

--- Frozen 935. Some times the 935xt freezes after disconnecting from the USB cable. A reset is necessary.

Now it's become increasingly difficult to send the workouts and schedule to the unit, a real pain for anyone with a busy training schedule.

Any help, specially from Garmin, is appreciated.
  • Hello
    Same issue for me.
INFO : Garmin Fenix 5 with V12 firmware, now update with the beta V12.51. Same problem with both firmware (if it is a problème with the firmware).
Impossible to load workout from garmin connect (last update) on IOS 12 (iPhone XS Max). Click on the send icon, windows appear with the green check. Sync the watch but nothing appear on the workout section.
Work with garmin express (last update) and garmin connect webplatform on my mac (mojave last update)

    Thanks
