PLEASE READ if Garmin Connect Mobile is crashing on you- FIXED in App version 4.12.1.2

After Daylight Savings Time ended in Europe on October 28, 2018 and issue occurred with the Garmin Connect App that causes the app to crash when connected with the Apple HealthKit. Garmin is aware of the crash and a solution is in the works.

A new version of the Garmin Connect app has been released that fixes this issue. Users no longer need to use the workarounds listed below. You can now re-enable syncing with Apple Health Kit or change your iPhone's time zone setting back to the correct location/Set Automatically.

Previous Workarounds prior to release of 4.12.1.2:

Workaround #1

Disable Apple HeathKit:
  • Open Health App
  • Go to Sources tab
  • Touch Connect
  • Touch ‘Turn All Categories Off’

This will prevent data from being synced to Apple HealthKit from the Garmin Connect App but will prevent the app from crashing until the fix can be implemented.

Workaround #2

Change iPhone’s time zone setting to Reykjavik, Iceland (or other country that does not participate in Daylight Saving Time):
  • Touch the Settings App
  • Touch General
  • Touch Date & Time
  • Turn off Set Automatically
  • Touch Time Zone
  • Search Reykajavik, Iceland

This workaround will allow you to sync your data to the Garmin Connect App and Apple HealthKit. Your device will potentially be in a different time zone depending on your location. Once the fix is released you will need to go back into your iPhone’s setting to update the time zone once more.
