Interrupted Sleep Measurement

Garmin Sleep Data Integration.

I am at an age when most nights after three or four hours, I wake up to visit the bathroom then lay awake for about an hour before sleeping more. My iPhone now running iOS 12 will often only show either segment of sleep, not both after I sync my Forerunner 235 via the Garmin Connect App 4.11.10.11! Later in the day, happily it sometimes integrates both segments of sleep - although not always. Is that a backend server function elsewhere on the Internet healing the data or is it happening in the iPhone itself when it is not busy or perhaps using a periodic to incrementally complete that as background task? Is this process documented online somewhere I could read it to understand? Could it be initiated by the user then and there?

All sleep analysis is done by Garmin Connect servers. Your phone's job in this regard is to relay necessary data to the Garmin Connect cloud, but sleep detection is done on the server side.

    No.

Could it be initiated by the user then and there?

    No.
