Problems with iOS Health transferring data to Garmin Connect

My iOS health ap is receiving weight, BMI, etc. from Garmin Connect but my activity data is not transferring to Garmin Connect? Shouldn't my steps and other activities from Health be available inside the Garmin ap? I am using the Apple watch series 3 with the iphoneX. Thanks for any tips since it seems the data is only flowing one direction.
