Bugs, bugs, bugs - Devs, please read and fix them

today i downloaded the latest GCM for iOS and there are still many (of the same old) bugs. i think it's time to fix them and it shouldn't be that hard. and it would be great, if the devs would start to test the areas where they made changes to the app to see, if everything works as it should.
GCM is here for so long and these bugs are of a kind, which should have been fixed for a very, very long time (and should not come back).

1. favorite apps:
ok, favorites are listed again, which is a progress. BUT, you forgot to check how favorite 3rd party apps, which have an update available, behave. they are NOT listed at all.

2. sorting of widgets:
one can sort 3rd party widgets as often as one wants to and to a random position - after the first sync to the fenix they are listed at the end of all widgets (on the fenix and in GCM).

3. my day no. 1:
everyday i automatically sync my weight over myfitnesspal to GC/GCM. the weight is shown in calendar under the current day and also under weight. both is correct.
BUT in the "my day cards" the weight of the current day is displayed in the "yesterday card" and there is NO weight under today/my day.

4. my day no. 2:
it is nearly impossible to sort in the my day settings, because all settings are in one large list, without any grouping or something else. all data fields are shown multiple times. ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1369722.png

Sorting Fav apps on the GCM app doesn't transfer over to the watch. They get de-favourited (IOS 12/F5) ...

Tried to sync a course to my Fenix 5 using GCM on IOS 12, it never transferred across, I tried multiple times and in the end had to just route myself using signs, making my watch redundant (apart from data collection).

Exactly the same happens with me. I use an Aria scale and sync it with the myfitnesspal too.

This actually happens for quite some time now. It's an old bug.
  • Active calories seems to be too low, both in the app and on the watch. In the web service of Connect they look ok. In addition active calories are not specified, as they were earlier. For example, yesterday I did several sessions (bike, strength, cardio), in total almost 2000 kcal during activities, and that should be a net of some 1750 active kval, but the app and the watch only reports some 1400. The web service correctly reports the higher number.

Edit 1: Hmm, the figures went down on July 3 for me. On that day I reported my weight with decimals (79,2) in the app and today I noticed that the weight did not come through to my F5, and only without decimals in Connect. Entered my weight without decimals and will see what happens. I have entered only full kg and half kg earlier. This may be the bug... although a bit weird if 78,5 works, and 79,2 do not... if that was the problem. But the under reported kcal coincides with the two days when my weight was noted as 79,2 kg.

Edit 2: I need to revisit this again... I did some review of my sessions the latest days. It seems that I have two days, where active calories are lower than expected. It did coincide with me entering a change in weight, that did not come through to my Fenix 5 (edit 1) - a bug in itself. It also coincides with me having my Vivosport in my bag, whilst commuting on the bike. As I commute, I log the session on my F5 as "bike". I can also see, that as my VS is in my bag, it generates faulty steps, so at the end of the session I have a correctly recorded bike session AND faulty (too many) steps recorded on the VS. During the day I noticed that the active calories was correct, but after one night, with updates from BOTH the F5 and the VS it seems that the active calories from the "faulty steps" are deduced. The logic may be correct: Steps recorded on one device in the same time frame as a session is recorded on another device, should not count. True Up seemed to work during the day, since active calories was correct (no extra calories from the VS), but then during the night these "faulty steps" and "faulty calories" where removed again from the recorded calories.

Sorry if this was complicated to understand... it is complicated to describe. I will stop having activity tracking on the VS as I keep it in my bag only...

This and widget order resetting are my biggest issues with an otherwise fairly decent app
  • "congrats" to the latest ios version... NOT A SINGLE BUG OF THE LIST ABOVE WAS FIXED! instead at least one new bug was added (sync to apple health broke).

if it wouldn't be so sad one could laugh. what the hell are the devs thinking an doing? it becomes more and more ridiculous.

Garmin has long been a really poor software company. Their software is often riddled with bugs, and their standard line is always denial the bugs exist ("Sorry, we can't replicate that issue."). It's really unfortunate.

The devs aren't really the ones to blame though. This is a company management issue. I actually feel bad for the devs working on the software, because they're either under-staffed, over-extended, uninspired, under-trained, mismanaged, or all of the above.
  • really, are you kidding? still not one of the obvious bugs above is fixed by now. i can't believe that something like this can be true. very, very poor performance, garmin!
