Battery drain, iOS11.4 / latest GC

i'm not sure whether Garmin Connect or iOS 11.4 is to blame, but in the past week, i've noticed that my battery is draining quickly even when i'm not using my iPhone at all. when i inspected the Battery usage, i found that the Usage and Standby time were identical. after a bunch of tests, i have pinpointed the battery drain being due to the bluetooth connection between my Forerunner 935 and my iPhone 7 (iOS 11.4). when i disconnect the FR935 (using the watch shortcut menu), the problem goes away.

has anyone else experienced this? prior to 11.4 or the recent GC update, i wouldn't see this sort of "constant usage" in the Battery statistics. while the BT connection between the two should use some battery, it shouldn't be on the order of 15-20% over a 10-12 hour day.
  • derek87 I am also facing the same issues don't listen to the post above me as they are just posting for an ad. Also iOS 12 is in beta so...

There is the link to my thread about this same issue I'm having with my 5x so you're not alone. Just today (the reason I came to the forums) was to update the thread and state the issue has popped back up.

thanks, Tommy. i'll go over there to see what you have found. this problem must started in the past week or so, so it has to be for me going from 11.3.1 to 11.4, or the GC update. i'm suspecting the latter since i believe i did go to 11.4 and i don't recall seeing this issue until this past weekend.
  • I've also seen excess battery drain since the 11.4 update. I am also having continuing issues with the My Day screen for Garmin Connect Mobile. It's like a broken military clock, as in it's only correct ONE TIME PER DAY. Which happens to be when I wake up. As soon as I do any Activity at all Cards start disappearing and the Edit My Day vanishes. Guess Garmin wants us all to quite working out, because it seems they don't think we should be able to see the results.

I also expect that they will try and blame Apple for this. However it's not an Apple Issue, it is a Garmin issue because they are failing to keep up with the changes introduced by Apple and if they want to blame Apple then they should simply stop claiming that they have an application that works with IOS. I've been a Garmin user since 1992 with the 12XL GPS unit and if anything drives me away from Garmin it will be Garmin's lack of effective programming.
