Edge 820 Firmware v9 and syncing

Prior to the v9 upgrade, my edge 820 was connected via bluetooth to my iPhone. As soon as my ride my saved on the Garmin it would automatically sync to garmin connect and strava. Since the v9 upgrade (read downgrade) this doesnt happen anymore. I have deleted the bluetooth pairing and set it up again. Both my phone and edge 820 show connected, yet the saved ride doesnt sync. It will only sync via garmin connect on my laptop. Is this by design or a know issue as I find it rather annoying that a great function has been removed.

I am also having this problem. Within the Garmin Mobile Connect app, it tells me my edge 820 explore is not properly paired, but it won’t resolve it.

I had the same problem connection bluetooth after updating a brand new Edge Explore 820 to v9.0. Found the solution by downgrading to v8.7.
    Downgrade instructions: https://forums.garmin.com/forum/into-sports/cycling/edge-explore-820-aa/1347493-bluetooth-connection-problems-after-fw-9-00
  • The downgrade resolved my issue.

I've experienced the same saga with version 9. Pretty sad when you have to take two steps backwards to get the 820 to work as advertised. A bit frustrated that 8.80 isn't readily available or at least being offered as a short term fix because with 8.70 some of the Connect IQ apps don't display properly.

Just reporting that I have same problem with bt on edge 820/fw 9.00. Wifi syncing somewhat works, but can’t use most of IQ apps without bt. I’m waiting Garmin to solve this issue, but if it’s not going to happen soon, I have to go downgrading path too.
  • Reporting the same issue, any fixes?
  • My wife's 820 has the same problems. v9.00 is garbage. Sensors don't connect, I had to re-pair her phone, yet it still doesn't work correctly. With that and the disaster that is the Edge 1030 (and the even stinkier garbage v4.00 firmware) we are both now thinking about cutting our losses, selling our Garmin devices and going with something else. I have frinds with the Wahoo Element and love it.

Same problem for me as well with 820 on firmware 9.10 and iOS 11.4 on an iPhone SE. Repairing the phone works once, but the next time there's no connection with the phone.

Meanwhile I'm on firmware v5.00 on the 1030 and 9.10 on the wife's 820. Both devices are still garbage and problematic. My wife wants a Wahoo. She is fed up with her 820. She wants soemthing that just works and the Wahoo Elemnt does just that according to a cycling friend who uses one. I made a big mistake selling my 1000 and getting a 1030. The 1000 (after two years of work) was at least resonablly stable (and unlike the 1030, works with the Remote).

I have an Edge 820 on the 9.10 version of firmware. I have it paired to my iPhone X with iOS 11.4.1. I am also finding that it does not automatically sync. It used to work with previous version of firmware.
