in the Garmin connect app I can see that it’s compleyed a field of FTP setting for a cycling activity. Is it possible to change this or where does it get the info from? I have tried to edit in both the app and the website but don’t appear to be able to edit that setting
FTP is set to a default value whenever you register a device with FTP capability. I don't know if it can be edited manually, although I believe it can be done in Garmin Connect web version. It is updated automatically after certain cycling activities are completed with a power meter and HR sensor.
Thanks, I’ve got this connected to a Team ICG IC7 spin bike, not sure how I change the FTP setting in that. I have set my FTP on my profile but it doesn’t change this on the activity.
You don't change the FTP on the spin bike. The activity FTP is calculated by your garmin device (what type of device do you have?) based on power data from the spin bike - if it provides power data.
Ok, then answering your original question, the FTP for that activity has been calculated by your Edge 510 based on power data received from the spin bike. I don't have a cycling activity with FTP result to test it, but it's possible, that it cannot be edited manually.
OK, so it looks like the Power Zones setting on the Edge unit need to set. One option is to complete the FTP figure. When I'm home later I will check this out and see if I can alter. As I've had no need to set Power Zones as I use the ones on the bike I haven't gone in to that area other than to pair the ant+ sensors. Fingers crossed that will also sort out the crazy figure its been using for TSS/IF as well. Thanks for your help though, pointed me in the direction of looking at the device rather than the account.
Found the setting on the Edge 510 and it looks like its default set to 200 Watts. Editing this now so hopefully will sort out the issue with the TSS/ IF setting on the app and website for the activity. Thanks tmk2 for your advice.
