Why is Garmin Connect Mobile App for IOS still bad?

Over the past 2 years, I've jumped back and forth between Fitbit and Garmin activity trackers. My initial analysis was that the Fitbit app was far superior to Garmin's and that Garmin had the better trackers. I've been using the Fitbit Charge 2 for the past year and I switched to the Garmin Vivosport on Jan 12th. I like the tracker, but the app is so bad! For example, simply lookin at my step details for yesterday and today is a total failure! It's seems like the app has to download the data from the cloud EVERY TIME that I choose to look at it it. Conversely, I can look at days and days of step details on the Fitbit app as quickly as I can touch the screen. And going back to the home screen from the step details screen initiates another automatic sync with the tracker. Why? Am I missing something or is this simply how this app functions? Any plans for improvement? The app's functionality and UI matter!
  • I can't answer why it is bad, other than I agree that the Garmin software overall is weak point in the Garmin ecosystem. Things that should be easy e.g. greater customization within Garmin Connect are not possible, and the integration with Apple Health is truly appalling.
