Forerunner 235 Won't Sync with iPhone 7

My Forerunner 235 has stopped syncing with by iPhone 7. It shows an active Bluetooth connection. However, when I try to sync I get an error message indicating "Your device seems to be busy, and your sync request timed out. Try again later." This has been going on for almost 4 hours. I have double checked, and I have the most current version of iOS (11.2.2), as well as the most recent version of the Garmin Connect app. I have tried turning both the phone and the watch off and on. I have purposely disconnected the Bluetooth, and then repaired the watch to the phone. Nothing has worked. Any other suggestions?
