Fenix 5 rebooting every time app syncs

After a couple of weeks of working fine, I noticed that every time that the app started to sync with the watch, halfway through the sync, the watch would show the Garmin Logo and disconnect from the app. After 5 seconds, the phone connects again but as soon as app tries to sync again, the logo reappears on watch.
I'm running latest version of app and IOS 11.2.1.
Already deleted and reinstalled app, reset watch multiple times.Turned watch and phone off and on.
Watch syncs perfectly with connect website when connected with USB charger so I assume it is an app issue.
As long as I have the app closed, the watch works fine.
Any theories?

  • Just got my Fenix 5x With version 7.1 on12/30/17. Similar issue as described above. iphone X with iOS 11.2.1, GARMIIN App version 4.1.5.1, GCS Version 4.1. It worked ok for indoor track run yesterday. But today keeps rebooting. Happens not tracking an activity, during an elliptical workout, during a treadmill walk, and during strength training (but lasted much longer doing the strength ~ 10 minutes before reboot. On the Elliptical it would go about 4-5 minutes before rebooting and about the same on the treadmill. I couldn't be more disappointed in a garmin product.
  • I was dealing with this problem for almost 2 years. Tried several steps an garmin possible solutions, nothing has helped. Including a factory reset of the device, step that you loose all data. After that actually the watch start working fine again, but shorter the problem showed up once more. I definitely solved this issue by deselecting the calendar sync at the app settings. My app is in Portuguese, so maybe the route names are different. But I went via garmin connect app to: “MORE” (3 dots at lower right corner) > settings > phone permissions > manage permissions > deselect calendars. I tried to reselect it, but later soon the problem happened again. So in my IOS device, I can only use it without calendar. Seems to be a major bug during sync the calendar. Hope it works for you.   • Hello .  I'm sorry to hear of this issue that you're experiencing.  Please make sure that your are running the following software versions:

    If you have a fenix 5 watch: 24.10

    If you have a fenix 5 Plus watch: 17.10

    You can be sure your watch is updated by syncing with Garmin Express:

    Garmin Connect mobile app (on iOS device): 4.49.1.3

    Your iPhone should be running 15.1 (check this at iPhone Settings > General > About)

    • Update your iPhone at iPhone Settings > General > Software Update
    • You may need to be connected to Wi-Fi and a direct power source via your charging cable
