Apple Health sync issues: Weight, Active + Resting Energy, Flights climbed, Distance

Hi all,

before I decided for my Activity Tracker device and especially brand I checked the compatibility with my phone (iPhone 7) and the Apple Health integration.
This is one of the important points for me, that my devices can interact with each other. Nothing is more mindless than having parts of (fitness/health) data in one App, others in a different or perhaps also a 3rd one.

Therefore I searched for especially this information across all brands and finally decided to buy a Garmin device

This is the official statement by Garmin:

Apple Health and Garmin Connect Mobile

Garmin Connect Mobile (GCM) version 2.6 and above provides support for the Apple Health application.

The following is a list of what data types are shared with the Apple HealthKit:
  • Health can receive the following data from Connect (depending on what options are enabled in Health and what types of data are supported by the connected Garmin device):
    • Active Energy
    • Body Fat Percentage
    • Body Mass Index
    • Flights Climbed
    • Heart Rate
    • Resting Energy
    • Sleep Analysis
    • Steps
    • Walking + Running Distance
    • Weight
    • Workouts (Activities uploaded to Garmin Connect)

But it doesn't work (correctly). Can someone help?

Weight:

After the initial installation of Garmin Conncet and sync with the new Garmin device, GCM imported each new Weight data per day from Apple Health (also if it was without Fat Percentage etc.). The source is a smart scale which works perfectly with Apple Health.
After 7 days (26.11.2017) this stopped working. I tried to fix this with several reinstallations of the app, reset of the phone and also with a 2nd iPhone. NO WAY to fix it.
Until now there is also no useful reply by Garmin.

=> Result: weight data sync doesn't work

Active and Resting Energy data:

The data is available in Garmin Connect. And yes, GCM adds this data to Apple Health. BUT only for the current day. As soon as the GCM App is opened the next day, all data from yesterday will be deleted from Apple Health.

=> Result: Active/Resting Energy data sync doesn't work

Flights Climbed data:

Same as Active and Resting Energy data.

=> Doesn't work

Walking and Running Distance data:

Same as Active and Resting Energy data.

=> Doesn't work

Steps:

It seems that the Steps data sync to Apple Health is the one which works fine. In this case a good job.

@Garmin: now what? Will this be fixed or do I have to return my device and choose a different Brand?

Thanks
Jonny
