Since I updated to iOS 11, Garmin Connect Mobile no longer syncs with my Garmin Fenix 5S automatically via Bluetooth. I need to open the GC Connect App, and them manually click on the sync button (or do the same on my watch).
Ditto on the sync issues with F3HR and iOS11. For me, everything was working reliably until 11.03, then the F3 and GC began to have sync issues. Both the watch and the phone would show connected but GC would show that my watch was unavailable. To fix this, I have to remove the F3 from GC, forget the F3 in iOS settings and then restart the watch and the phone and re-pair. After that, the connection would remain stable for three or four hours and then drop again. Upon the latest update to GC, my F3 froze up completely, stuck on the garmin boot screen. I did a factory reset and reloaded my apps and calendar onto the watch and the same thing happened, stuck on the boot screen. I did another factory reset, and then after making sure the watch was paired and everything worked, I loaded up my apps one at a time. Turns out the strava app causes the Fenix 3 to lock up now. I did a third factory reset on the watch and loaded all the apps except strava. Now the F3 seems to be working reliably but I still have to drop/forget the bluetooth connection and then re-pair the watch and phone at least once a day.
I wish it were IOS11 but I still have IOS 10.3.3 and I it is hit and miss with sync. I'm having the problem with my Garmin 520. Yesterday my ride auto-synced but my previous ride did not. Today's ride did not auto-sync and I cannot go to the ride history to Upload the ride. Every time I try and I have tried at least 10 times after starting and restarting it says "Upload Failed". I have restarted the phone, forgotten the 520, forgotten the iphone, re-paired the phone to the 520. Like someone said some functions work. My ride shows up on the webpage where you can share the ride. I get text messages and phone call notifications. That says it is connecting to the bluetooth. What is not working reliably is the sync function nor can I upload the ride when it does not sync. My Garmin 520 is running software version 12.3. What in my case makes matters worse is I cannot even connect as mass storage it always goes straight to the charging mode.
I am having the same issues with an iPhone X and Edge 810. Tried re-pairing and restarting, even deleted the connect app and re-downloaded it and set up all over again with no luck. The phone pairs fine with the Edge and redirects to the app but the app doesn't see the Edge.
After iOS 11.1 upgrade and a reboot, Garmin Connect Mobile v 4.0.1.1 could connect again to my Fenix 3 watch. I'll keep an eye on it to see if the connection remains steady in the coming days.
continuing to have problems even with the latest iOS (11.1) and latest GC with my iPhone 7 and Forerunner 935. nothing is a reliable fix...it used to be just turning bluetooth on and off, sometimes rebooting the watch, sometimes rebooting the phone, and other times, completely removing the watch from the phone and reinstalling.
I spoke with Garmin support. My daughter's Forerunner 235 hasn't been able to sync via Bluetooth for a while. He said IOS 11 changed significantly from the previous version and the Connect App is being changed to accommodate it. Until the Connect app is updated it's best to sync with the cord.
As a footnote my Edge 810 syncs flawlessly via Bluetooth / IOS 11.
I had the "BT sees my FR230 but GC does not" since iOS 11 update, turning BT off and back on on the iPhone would correct it. The latest GC version corrected the detection issue; it's still not reliable for auto-sync, but then again it never was; the good thing is they moved the manual sync button right at the top of the initial screen in GC. Nice fix: we know we can't get the damn auto-sync to work, so we'll move the work-around to the landing page. Works for me anyway, less diving into menus to get things done.
Same issue here... frustrating!. Called Garmin this morning and they said that as of iOS 11.x, the issue started and as of 11.1, the problem still exists and they ware working with Apple to resolve. Hold your breath and wait for the next iOS patch.
I’m having the same problem since this morning. I deleted and reinstalled the app, also deleted the Bluetooth device from my iPhone (iOS 11.1). Now I can’t see my FR935 anymore in the list of nearby Bluetooth devices and I can’t even find it using the GC app.
I am experiencing tha same issue as AtyRunsTheBurbs. Brand new out of box 935 sync’d for a couple of hrs of initial switch on yesterday, then lost sync and none of the tricks mentioned on the forums to re-pair the two devices has worked.
I also can not see my watch in the phones BT device list and GC app can not find my watch when trying to pair. This is based on iOS11.1 and the latest GC app version 4.0.1.1
Let’s hope the Garmin and Apple software Engineers are working this as we speak, because it’s not an impressive start for a device that has cost 100s of £s, regardless of the scale of the change in iOS. My other external devices are not having the same problems connectin/operating with the new iOS.
