Since I updated to iOS 11, Garmin Connect Mobile no longer syncs with my Garmin Fenix 5S automatically via Bluetooth. I need to open the GC Connect App, and them manually click on the sync button (or do the same on my watch).
Garmin wants continuing reports of issues, so nothing new here but variation on the theme.
I have a fenix5. GCM 4.1.5.1. iOS 11.2.1. No connectivity issues - working fine (touch wood) My parents are visiting from abroad. Both have Garmin Vivofit HR+ devices. Both up to date with GCM & iOS. Mum's is working fine; Dad's hasn't synced since arriving on Dec 12th. In GCM it indicates he is connected to the device (green dot). Able to sync, but there is no data since Dec 12th. In Calendar view there's no data since Dec 12th, including today, despite today's data showing on the My Day page. He's also having issues with the device trying to repeatedly connect to GCM during the day.
I'm at latest iOS, GC and 7.10 Fenix5 firmware and I'm still experiencing disconnects. Maybe little bit less disconnections after the latest GC update (4.1.5.1), but it could also depend on changed behaviour. As of now, GC has stayed connected to the phone for like 3-4 days in a row now (:eek:), but at the same time, I've had the phone with in range the absolute majority of the time. The longest "out of range" is around 1h when I was swim training (watch on the arm, the phone in the locker room). The major difference the last 3-4 days is that I've had the phone in the bedroom during the night (well with in BT range) instead of the hallway (which is at the edge of BT range). Maybe longer times out of range could also be a factor? On the other hands, I know that I've experienced sudden disconnects when the phone has been with in BT range (not with the latest GC but earlier versions)
Had to restart both iPhone and FR235, why? Because I turned off Bluetooth via my iPhone to save power for an hour or so til I could recharge... Really disappointing problem for such an otherwise great watch.
I'm still having to restart both watch and phone on an almost daily basis despite them almost never being out of range of each other. It's incredibly frustrating.
After updating to GC 4.1.5.1 at the weekend my Fenix 3 no longer connects via bluetooth for uploading activity. It would show as connected but would not sync. I re-downloaded GC hoping this would fix it but to no avail. It now will not even register with my watch, despite the watching showing up in my Bluetooth devices.
By the sounds of it many people are having similar issues, what is Garmin's process for ensuring their watches connect with there own software! For such an expensive device this is very poor customer service. Is it possible to roll back to a previous version of GC where the connection worked?
I can not get Garmin Connect on my iphone X iOS 11.2.1 to connect to my 735XT. Have un-installed and reinstalled the mobile app multiple times, turned off/on bluetooth etc. Nothing works - when I put the watch in pairing mode and tell the mobile app to scan - it says DEVICE FOUND, do I want to pair with it? I select YES, then it just says Connecting with the spinner running and the watch continues to display Ready to Pair. Until the watch times out and the Mobile apps displays Pairing Failed.
One side note - My old iPhone 6 - without a SIM, when I turn it on, it connects to the watch, no problem. I have not installed the iOS 11.2.1 update on this older phone
Additional observation: After I changed behaviour to charge the iPhone within BT-range during the nights, the Fenix5 and GC has managed to stay connected for approx 3 weeks. This night I charged the Fenix5 out of range from the phone, meaning, around 8-9 hours out of BT-range, and this morning when I put the Fenix5 on my arm and opened GC, it was disconnected. However, this time, a toggle of BT on and off in the iPhone's settings meny and force restart of GC was enough to get them to connect again. So it seems like being out of BT-range from the iPhone for longer periods seems to be at least one factor.
Going back to charging the phone with in BT-range during the night for some time again to see if GC stays connected.
