Garmin Connect synced first few minutes worth of steps to Apple Health, then stopped.

Just had my new Garmin Vivomove watch arrive, and tried it out by walking around the room, then syncing. It worked and wrote the steps to Apple Health.

Then I hopped on my elliptical and wore it while maxing the step counter. Hopped off, synced, then openned Apple Health... no new steps. Huh... :-\

Waited 10 minutes. Still no new steps. Quit Apple Health and relaunched, quit Garmin Connect and relaunched, tried disabling and re-enabling permissions for GC in Apple Health... still nothing. I still only see the few dozen test steps from a few hours ago :-(

What gives? I've had no problems with other apps reading and writing to Apple Health today. I've encounted issues in the past, e.g. Withings Health Mate couldn't read steps from Apple Health (despite three other apps doing so just fine), which is why I bought a Garmin watch instead, as it happens! Ha. But my current apps and devices are all working okay... except now for Garmin Connect.
  • Ah, never mind. I read the other threads about Apple Health here. So basically I'm screwed, eh? Steps have finally shown up a day late, twice now, but there seems to be no way to get steps into Apple Health in a sane timeframe.

Thus I have returned my Vivomove. Because what choice do I have? Garmin support were useless and refused to accept the issue existed for other users after I pointed out their forums were full of people with the same issue. And they just kept blaming Apple Health, despite the fact that other apps sync their device's data just fine! They clearly live in a fantasy world that bears little to no relationship with reality :-(

It simply isn't useful to finally get Garmin data merged into Apple Health with other device data a day or more late. Just crazy...

    Agreed

    +1

The day later sync is irritating and inconsistent with what every other app syncing to Apple Health does.
