Why does the tracking device NOT track my steps when I'm the one pushing the cart in Costco? We even did an experiment - if I was walking next to the cart it was tracked, but if my hand was on the cart the tracking of my steps stopped.
That's not uncommon with wrist based trackers. My 230 does the same when I'm pushing a shopping trolley. It's because it's not seeing any motion that can be interpreted as steps.
You could try putting it in a pocket or in a sock.

It's definitely an issue for Costco to deal with. Take it up with the store management they will provide you a refund of the days shopping value.
Just kidding :p it's because of the lack of arm movement which the device usually ascertains as steps.
Sucks when you walk miles within the store but don't get any of it recorded on the tracker :/
