Not sure what the point of the Move IQ feature is. It doesn't seem to work properly. As an example, it does not grab my elliptical activities and it once thought I was cycling when in fact, I had walked to my car and taken a short drive. It can be supposedly turned off from the connect.garmin.com page (not in the app that I can find), yet it still creates events and suggest that to avoid bogus entries, that I should create an activity, when in fact, I did create a specific activity. It's not critical as it is just creating duplicates but thought Garmin and other users should know. It appears to be a feature that sounds cool but is really a somewhat useless feature.
Another pet peeve; Why, oh WHY can't the watch alarm be set from the watch or the app??? It can only be set from the above-referenced website. That seems like a programming oversight to me. It should be at least in the app menu somewhere. I use both an iPad and iPhone 5S.
Have also had some frustrating moments trying to clear notifications on the watch. There should be a "clear all" option as clearing multiples requires too many swipes and taps for each individual notification. Also, I have turned off various notifications in the app itself, yet still seem to get some of the notifications that are turned off? It is possible that my understanding of what is implied by the name of the various notifications is skewed.
That said, even though there are a few problems with timely updates (even after syncing) small bugs and programming oversights, is still a very good fitness tracker with many good features and tools. My husband and I bought multiples for the whole family on Black Friday (6 total). We had some issues getting a couple people connected with their devices due to developer issues even though the devices are supposed to be compatible. Tech support has been empathetic and very good even if the issues were not easily resolved or unresolvable until next update. So, overall we are happy with the purchase and it has been very motivating to get moving more.
I have found that if one is experiencing any weirdness with the watch itself, turning the device off then back on, seems to clear it up.
Hopeful for improvements and bug fixes on subsequent updates.
