EPO not updating via Garmin Connect

Hi all,

My Garmin Fenix 3 HR often takes a few minutes to acquire GPS signal. I understand that the EPO.bin needs to be constantly updated to improve the GPS locking time. However, my EPO is not updating after syncing my watch to my phone via BT. EPO status remains "Expired". My understanding is that it should updated after connecting to Garmin Connect?

Phone: iPhone 7 running iOS 10.2

Anyone else having similar issues?

Have you tried syncing with Garmin Express on a computer?

Hi!

I have the same problem with my FR735XT.

When I sync it with Garmin Express using the USB cable, in the next 6-7 days, the watch finds GPS within ~10 sec. Afterwards it requires ~1min.

When I sync it with Garmin Mobile Connect (latest version used on an Android phone) using Bluetooth LE, the GPS fix duration always requires ~1min.

I did this experiment now 2 times, and it was totally reproducible.

Therefore, I have to conclude that Garmin Express does sync EPO, but Garmin Mobile Connect does not sync EPO.

Why? And why are all documents telling me that all ways of syncing should also include the EPO?

Hi! Same problem with a Fenix 5, how did you solve the problem?

Same problem here for the last couple of weeks with Garmin Connect Mobile on iOS, with a Forerunner 645. I think Garmin broke something in the app and now the EPO data is not updating over Bluetooth.

Initiating a Wifi sync does update the EPO data, so using that as a workaround.
