Is there a trick for getting GC to properly update Apple Health and/or Activity?

I've got a lot of data in Apple's Health ecosystem. I like it. GC claims to sync to it, or at least offers the option to allow it. But neither Activity.app nor Health.app ever show the activities in them. I see a generic "Workout" entry, so there is some communication going on, but "Walking and Running Distance" doesn't update and Activity.app is empty.

    Now this is disappointing! I bought a 735xt yesterday, and it was syncing everything just fine to Health until just before midnight. Then silence.

    Having developed several systems that log critical data in near real time, I suspect a very simple programmer error here...



    The problem is with Garmin, it could be a simple error, but that won't stop them from not acknowledging it, but maybe fixing it in 6 months. Been the same in all the years I've used them.

    If I was Garmin, I would feel embarrassed that my app couldn't sync to Healthkit in realtime, whereas apps written by solo programmers doing apps as a hobby seem to be able to do so just fine.

    Once again I encourage everybody to file bug reports (e.g. via the Garmin Connect iOS app). It is quite possible, that the real developers aren't aware that there are issues.

    Oh I've sent a big report via the app. I know you can't just moan about something being broken, but not put in a bug report.

    On the other hand, I've been here before. I expect Garmin are in no rush to fix their health app integration, and there is nothing we can do about it.
  • Excellent and yes: I have very little hope that Garmin fixes things. As in all interface questions it is always the other side's fault. I just hope that the sheer amount of tickets has an effect on Garmin.

    I seem to remember that you had the option to send an email to support directly from the iOS app via the Help menu. It seems that the possibility has been dropped, so you have to go through the standard support channels.

    GC seems to by syncing well to Apple Health Kit/Activity for me. My only issue is that treadmill runs are showing up as outdoor runs. Anyone know how to fix this?

    HealthKit synch skips days often

    I've noticed that certain days Garmin connect just doesn't send any data over to HealthKit
    I can see that it reupdates data from the the day before the missed dates but not the missing day.

    I've synced my device with connect multiple times today and every time it doesn't show up in HealthKit for today

    This issue is so pathetic at this point. It's totally hit'n miss if my connect syncs something to health - and it's been like that for a year+ - ever since they started saying they would support health.
    And later editions have completely stopped syncing data that counts in apple's activity tracker (heartrate, Calories and such).

    Being a garmin user for two years now I can only say I have certainly bought my last garmin device.
    I have a clear strategy to move to a different platform where the software actually works as advertised. SO disapointed with garmin's software :-(
