Is there a trick for getting GC to properly update Apple Health and/or Activity?

I've got a lot of data in Apple's Health ecosystem. I like it. GC claims to sync to it, or at least offers the option to allow it. But neither Activity.app nor Health.app ever show the activities in them. I see a generic "Workout" entry, so there is some communication going on, but "Walking and Running Distance" doesn't update and Activity.app is empty.
  • This sucks

It's really frustrating to see how amateurish the integration with HealthKit is... Garmin really dropped the ball.

I actually had it working really well yesterday (could be a bug that manifested), sending information in realtime to Health.app. But not today. So bad.

    :(
  • Same for me - I get an occasional day when everything works in real time but then it's back to the usual 24h delay.

I can only encourage everybody to keep sending in those bug reports to Garmin.
  • Anybody talked to Apple? After all, Garmin supply the data for Apple to do 'stuff' with it. Seems to me the conversation's a little one-sided.

The trick for Apple Health is to leave Connect Mobile open for another minute after the sync with your Garmin device finishes. You should be able to go in to Apple Health and see your info afterwards. If it's still not appearing, force close Apple Health, sync your Garmin device, and wait one minute again.

Same problem here. It was syncing fine yesterday (my very first day with GC) but not working at all today

I find it so weird since another apps like Endomondo are writing their data perfectly.

Well, I'd appreciate if someone could explain a really useful trick to keep both apps synced.

    Thanks!

I tried but it doesn't seem to work. Anyway, what do you mean by "force close" Apple Health? I know just one way to close an app on iOS.
  • Once again: for me the Apple Health sync kinda works - just with a 24h delay. So try opening Apple Health after midnight or the next morning and if Garmin Connect ist the only/primary steps source it should appear in Apple Health.

Force closing an app on iOS is when you double tap the home button then swipe the app away.

Pressing the home button once to get out of an app places it in the background but it doesn't actually close the app and force it to launch as a new instance the next time you open it.

Thanks for the tips. I finally got things moving again. Today (January 4th) my Health app showed the last data it had been given was for December 31st. I don't understand what's so hard about kicking the data over to Health every single time the watch syncs with GCM!

Now this is disappointing! I bought a 735xt yesterday, and it was syncing everything just fine to Health until just before midnight. Then silence.

Having developed several systems that log critical data in near real time, I suspect a very simple programmer error here...
