Is GCM 3.10 compatible to iOS 10?

The thread title says it all ... the App Store info for GCM only says "iOS 8 or higher", no word about iOS 10, though I get tons of app updates the last days, that especially mention iOS 10 compatibility.

So is GCM 3.10 compatible to iOS 10?

How's your experience? Any issues?

Thanks ... good to know ... I have a 6s and iPad Pro. Before I update, I have to check 2 further music apps for compatibility.
  • Everything works as before however I've noticed that the newly added swim records in Apple health are not currently supported by garmin connect and therefore no data gets synced across from garmin to Apple health.

Apple Health sync is a mess anyway ... e.g. all sleep phases including awake phases get synced as deep sleep.

Strange ... I got an email about a new posting mentioning smart notification issues with the Vivosmart HR after the iOS 10 update on an iPhone 6s+ and now it's gone?
  • I've been running iOS 10 since the early public beta's ... no issues that I'm aware of.
  • having issues

I upgraded my iphone to the new IOS 10 and now, Garmin Connect is having issues. It'll open, the 810 connects to the phone and then, Connect disappears. It appears to be running in the background but when I bring it up, it repeats the same behavior.

I've done the usual tricks - restarted the phone, re-sync'd the 810, etc. If I delete the program and reload it, it works great for one and only one shot. Syncs the 810 to the phone, works as usual. Once.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks!

The most important thing is to contact Garmin Support to make sure, they are aware of this problem. But tell them as many details as possible ... which iPhone, which iOS version before and after, 10.0 versus 10.0.1, did you update over OTA or with iTunes? These infos might be relevant in case Garmin development department needs to contact Apple.

Did you see the iPhone 7 threads in this forum, which report similar issues? There I recommended to try repairing the device after a "cleanup of bluetooth" ... maybe that helps. If not, it makes sense to keep an eye on these threads and the iOS forum, because it might take a while, until Garmin comes up with a solution, because to me it sounds as if GCM 3.10 is NOT fully compatible with iOS 10.

Next time I would recommend not to update any OS shortly after release. IT-guys often say "never use a zero version" and it seems to be true ... iOS 8 & 9 & 10, OSX Yosemite & El Capitan, Windows 10 Anniversary ... all caused several issues, that needed OS patches, because some customers were lucky, but others had major issues.

Thank god, I didn't update to iOS 10 yet, because the vendor of my guitar app confirmed, that it's not compatible yet. That's why I expected potential issues with GCM too, because many vendors already updated their apps and show a clear statement about iOS 10 compatibility in the app store ... Garmin didn't so far!

No offence intended! Just a tip to avoid such disappointments in the future.
  • Working now

I deleted the Garmin from the iphone bluetooth list. I deleted the app and then, reinstalled it. When I opened the app, I didn't pair the 810 initially instead, I poked around Garmin Connect a bit to insure it was running well including after I stopped it, restarted it, etc. - everything looks good.

Then, I paired the Garmin to the phone. No issues when I added the device to the app. I can go in and out of the app, I tested with the Garmin on and off, everything looks somewhat stable. It did crash while entering my Livetrack email addresses but that's the only time it crashed in 15 - 20 minutes of playing around.

Nice ... let's hope, it's finally solved, but it makes sense to inform Garmin Support of this hassle ... this shouldn't have happened.

It seems the iPhone 7 guys were also able to solve their issues by repairing their devices ... no further feedback in those threads.
