Cannot Pair or Sync Vivosmart HR to iPhone 6

I've had a Vivosmart HR for apprx. 1 month. All was working well until I turned Bluetooth off to try and re-pair to fix a sync issue.

Now it won't pair with my iPhone 6. Actually, the band says it's paired with the iPhone, but Garmin Connect app says it's not. ???? Can't sync with phone and can't receive weather widget. (I 'am' getting vibrating notifications)

How I tried to fix (with NO results):

I "forgot this device" in Settings/Bluetooth on phone. Deleted and re-installed GC app. When trying to pair... band, I get the code, band says it's connected to iPhone 6. Garmin Connect app says "Device Found". However, GC app says "completing setup"....."Pairing Failed"/"Unable to pair your Garmin device. Server Error."

Please help. Can't pair or sync. This is frustrating and disappointing. I've spent hours trying to find a way to resolve this issue. Garmin has not replied to my email of 3 days ago.

I am getting the same problem now. Every couple of days it seems I find a new bug in Garmin software. I can no longer pair my vivosmary HR with my iPhone 5SE. I did the forget device thing. It lost the pairing twice last week and now I cannot even get Garmin Connect to recognize the vivosmart HR.
  • Here is not I got it fixed

Ok, I got it to work and I was able to repeat the behaviour twice. It seems to lose the bluetooth pairing if the phone and the fitness tracker are 20+ meters apart (I think). I could not get the pairing to work if there are a lot of devices nearby. The solution that worked twice (and I was able to make the pairing disconnect twice) is to turn both the phone and vivosmart HR off for a couple of minutes. Then take them to a place where there are no other devices (in my case, my car) as opposed to my office (where is a laptop and iPad and neighbouring offices rife with devices). The pairing works in my car. Maybe it was turning them both off for a few minutes, or a combination of the time and the "get away from other bluetooth signals".

Bluetooth is a short range connection, so 20m is superb. My Vivoactive HR has a very good range too.

Lately I was in a shop an tested Bluetooth speaker. A lot of patience (around 2 minutes) was needed to pair the speaker I wanted to test with my iPhone 6s, because there were so many Bluetooth devices ... around 30 ... but once paired, the connection was stable. The pairing process was only slightly slower as usual, but it took pretty long to find the desired device.

So even this is not astonishing. I even have less issues witha 5GHz WiFi at home as with 2.4 GHz, because the later is, what all neighbours use.
  • Here it is in May 2018. Since about December 2016 it has been working fine. I thought I would follow up.
