No 'contacts' or 'incident detection' option?

I've just got a Garmin 820 and trying to set up contacts/incident detection and it's saying that it needs to be set up in Garmin Connect Mobile. I don't see any option in the IOS version, although when I try android it's there?

I apologize for the lack of follow up on this thread. This issue was resolved with the 3.10 iOS GCM update that was released at the end of August. Please ensure that the GCM app is up to date with 3.10.

How do I actually select a contact for incident detection?

I have a new 820 (f/w version 4.10) and version 3.11 on the iOS app.

I go to set up incident detection and it launches my contacts. I choose a contact, which then opens the contact's card. But I see no place to select OK or choose the contact. What am I missing?

I have had some trouble with this also. I am using a dutch language setting so I am not sure how another language version of connect mobile shows the contacts but you must use the contacts shown in the upper half of the screen. The lower half shows contacts 'found in other apps' but those are not working. I think the contact has to be in your contacts so therefore I have made a dedicated emergency contact with only a phonenumber. Just select the contact in the app and it's added automatically.

I just purchased an Explore 1000 and many of my contacts are grayed out, including my wife. I have the most up to date app version and I've made sure my device is updated. I see the most recent post on here is from nearly a year ago. Is there a fix for this issue yet?

I tried the "set up dedicated contact on my iPhone" approach. Still unable to select the contact (any contact). I have the same problem as saroth1. Can't find a means to say "OK" or select. What am I missing?

I have same issue? How do I resolve this in order to "select" or say OK once I have picked a contact?

    Garmin Connect version 4.5.1.1
    iOS version: 11.3

Tried to use a gmail contact, an O365 contact and a dedicated contact called "Crash" with only a phone number on my iPhone. Still can't select anything... Has anyone resolved this?

Have the same issues, flagged couple of weeks ago under seperate topic: https://forums.garmin.com/forum/into-sports/cycling/edge-520-aa/1356767-issue-adding-emergency-contacts...
Has it been resolved for you in the meantime?
  • Hi Garmin-Joey,
This was posted four years ago, but as of today 11-Sept-2020 I have the same issue. As Garmin worked on a fix for Its user ?
Or do I need to take the long road of uninstalling e=and reinstalling the app and associated devices ?
    Cheers

  • I have the same issue: no incident detection option on my Fenix5. What can i do to get it runninf in my app and on my watch?!?
