No 'contacts' or 'incident detection' option?

I've just got a Garmin 820 and trying to set up contacts/incident detection and it's saying that it needs to be set up in Garmin Connect Mobile. I don't see any option in the IOS version, although when I try android it's there?

OK I've somehow got it to work but it's not showing me all my google contacts (family members etc). Does it only allow connections with people with Garmin accounts? If so that is crazy

    Incident detection

Same here, unable to find incident detection in Garmin connect (iOS).
    It used to be present.
  • contacts option missing

It is missing since the update. In the app there is a feedback option you can use to send issue reports direct to Garmin.

We appreciate the discussion on the options to set up Incident Detection are missing from the Garmin Connect Mobile app. Currently we are seeing that the option to set up Incident Detection is missing from the iOS app unless the Edge device is being set up from the very begging.

This issue has been escalated to the Garmin Connect team for further investigation and resolution. A workaround would be to disconnect the device from the phone, uninstall the app, reinstall the app, and then set up the Incident Detection during the initial set up of the device with Garmin Connect Mobile.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this has caused.

Well thats not inconvenient at all. Nonetheless thanks for responding and escalating to the right group. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  • I had to do a reset to FACTORY settings, which was a pain because I lost all my activity customization. Then I saw the setup for incident detection, but it stopped when it got to the requirement that the Garmin App have access to my contacts. I gave the access but then the process could not be restarted. I tried the process again and it didn't work at all.
PLEASE FIGURE THIS OUT! It is one of the reasons I upgraded from the 510 to the 820!!
  • Does this work and when will the app be fixed?

Has anyone had this work around ACTUALLY work? I don't really want to reset to factory settings and lose my personalisation of screens, records etc.

I have not as I'm afraid the contact issue will happen. Garmin can we please have it fixed? It is one of the big main features, I assume it shouldn't be ignored.
