Garmin Connect not syncing with My Fitness Pal. Vivosmart device

Hello, I have recently been given a Garmin Vivosmart to use in order to accurately track my steps. The device itself syncs with Garmin Connect perfectly so far but my steps are not syncing from the Garmin Connect app to My Fitness Pal. I have tried looking for information on this; this does seem to be a common problem but I can't seem to find any solid solutions. Can anyone help? Thanks 🙂
  • Have you set Garmin Connect as the source of your steps in MyFitnessPal?

On the MyFitnessPal app, go to Settings and then Steps or on the MyFitnessPal website go to Apps and then Steps.

In either set your step source as Garmin Connect.

Yes, I have done this but it just registers '0 Garmin steps'.
I have also tried disconnecting Garmin Connect and MFP then reconnecting them.
  • Have you tried forcing a sync from Garmin Connect? Go to the Calories In/Out tile and do it from there.

I have my Garmin Connect linked to MyFitnessPal and the syncing between the two only happens when I force it. I'm only syncing my weight from MyFitnessPal back to Garmin Connect. I use a Fitbit tracker and scale. Syncing between Fitbit and MyFitnessPal is automatic.

I have gone to the Calories In/Out and selected 'Log calories with MFP' which then takes me to the MFP app to my diary for the day but no steps or a calorie adjustment has been taken from Garmin Connect.

Sorry, I think I wasn't being clear in my advice. I have only ever had information transfer between MyFitnessPal and Garmin Connect by forcing a sync on the Garmin Connect website. Go to the Calories In/Out tile which looks something like this:

It tells you when it was last synced and gives you a link to force a sync. I'm only syncing weight and it doesn't show up from MyFitnessPal until I force a sync on the website. I don't know any other way that works.

If you are logging food, you do that in MyFitnessPal, not Garmin Connect. I've been using MyFitnessPal for the last month to track my food intake and calorie burn. It's good for bringing data together from multiple platforms, but the link to Garmin Connect doesn't behave well for me.

Ah I see, apologies for not understanding originally.

I have done this through the website and nothing has changed or linked to MFP. The one and only thing I am really wanting MFP to read from Garmin Connect is my steps, that's it. Anything else is a bonus for me. It's getting extremely frustrating and I am getting very inaccurate diary entries on MFP now due to this. Thank you for your help. There must be something else I'm doing wrong somewhere.
  • I'm not sure what else I can suggest. I think when I connected my accounts I did it from Garmin Connect.

I've got the EXACT Same problem with my VivoActiveHR.

It is connected to MFP, and in MFP the Garmin Connect IS selected as the steps source... yet no steps register. My "activities" sync just
