Garmin Connect iOS v3.8 No sync bar progress

Since the release of Garmin Connect for iOS version 3.8, which was released yesterday.

There is no longer any blue sync progress bar which appears at the bottom of the app (which then turns green after successful sync).

Problem also reported on reviews of the app on the Apple App Store.

Is this a bug? was working in the previous release, but not this one?

Data is syncing fine, just no status. :(
  • Not only do I no longer get the sync bar as you have noted, but sync isn't working correctly either. For example, this morning there is no sleep data from last night. I can promise that I actually did go to sleep, but Garmin Connect on my iPhone and on the web both indicate that there is no sleep data yet. I have pulled to refresh multiple times on the iPhone and steps are syncing, but no sleep.

Seems like a bad update on the app from Garmin, hopefully the feedback from users will reach Garmin support?!
  • Same here.

Same here: no sync progress bar and no sleep data. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, re-paired my Vivosmart HR, disconnected from and reconnected to my account but without result.
  • Well, I now have sleep data on Garmin Connect, and I don't know that I did anything to get it to upload, but I can say that it's way out of whack. According to the data, I went to sleep at midnight and woke up around 4:30 am. That's not at all correct. I have adjusted the sleep and wake times, but the data is still odd. Prior to this morning, my sleep data has been surprisingly accurate and reliable.

I don't know if the iOS update would impact the actual data on the watch or not, although it's possible. It's also possible that there are two issues here: problems with the latest iOS app release and a problem with Garmin Connect's backend.

Ditto. Also no overnight HR data from my F3HR, graphs are still a load of crap (no auto scaling still), intensity minutes doubled overnight and numerous other bugs overhanging from the previous version.

What's more we waited over a month for this junk. In the meantime Strava and MFP have had two good updates if not more.

What's even more worrying is that our update only came about because of the 820. Not a good state of affairs...

I bet the new 820 owners are really happy with that
  • This morning I had my sleep data synced again!

My sync bar has now returned.

I trust this software even less now. Let's hope live track is fixed or its eBay time.

    ... And it's gone again.

Top quality software this!!

    GC 3.8.1 Released

    Garmin now released 3.8.1

Has solved automatic sync and sync bar is now appearing.

Solved any other problems for anyone else?

I'd disagree with this in part - mine hasn't 'auto updated' all day, only via manual sync. But yes, there is a new version and the sync message is there. I dearly hope they didn't break live track in the short time that it was working!
