GCM - HealthKit Sync Issues

Hi everyone,

I know there are already a couple of threads on this topic, but I wanted to create an overview of the bugs I have noticed, to check if you have noticed the same, or if I am maybe I am wrong on these points.

  • "Steps" and "Heart Rate" data is written to HealthKit (HK) only on the next day. There is no such delay for the other items, and no reason I can think of why this should be like that, so I assume this is a bug
  • For "Walking + Running Distance", "Active Energy", "Resting Energy", "Flights Climbed" only the current day is written to HK. Past days' data is deleted again when syncing.
  • "Walking + Running Distance" actually contains also cycling distance, and - I assume - all distances from all activities. (This seems to be the same mistake as on the "Step Details" card in GCM - the distance there is confusingly not only related to steps)

Do you agree? Anything I am missing? I have the fenix 3 HR in case this is relevant.

BTW, the FAQ item here does not explain any of these issues.

Thanks,
Lorenzo

Improvements and changes will be made in a future update to Garmin Connect Mobile that will reconfigure how data is sent to Health Kit. In the meantime, leaving GCM open in the foreground for as long as possible will allow for the best syncing results. If additional information becomes available in the form of a timeline or specifics on these changes, we will let everyone know. As always, we thank everyone for the continued discussion and all of the insight you bring and we appreciate your patience while we improve the GCM experience.

Exactly same issues for me as described in the first post.

Some data is daily and then wiped out and some is kept but only updated at 11.30pm

    Hope for a fix soon.
  • Is this the version you refer to?

Yesteday a new GC version came out - seems like it still does not work with Health - or?

Clear Problem With Update and Apple Health

Just want to add to the thread, that there is a clear problem with the Mobile Connect app and Apple Health

I wear my Fenix 3 HR all day as my activity tracker, and when looking back at the data in Apple Health, I have Connect entries every day in Steps that cease August 9th, the day the update to Connect Mobile was updated. Additionally, I have entries in the Workout section each day from Connect (even though there are no steps on these days), no entries at all in Walking + Running distance, entries each day in Flights Climbed, Resting Energy, Active Energy.

There is clearly a problem with the update.

    Keep thread alive

    ** Bump **

Here we are almost 2 months later after this issue is reported. Garmin acknowledge there is an error as seen in this forum yet there is still no word on when this will be fixed. Has anyone else managed to get anywhere or information from Garmin Support on this bug?
  • Version 3.10 ready...

Amazing, right? New features added but old bugs not fixed..
  • Same issue for me - indeed, sometimes I have to wait for two days before steps accutally appear in Apple Health (see attched screenshot).

I was planning on using Apple Health as my central hub, so the situation is far from ideal.

Let me add a further bug: All phases during bed time get synced as sleep time, even when there is an awake phase :(
  • Those problem exist long time. I bought my watch about 1,5 year ago and I wrote to Garmin about that (now checked emails and last mail about that was 2016.04...). Nothing has really changed. Integration with HealthKit is completely messed up. I have different health devices and HealthKit should be place to keep everything together.
Any info from someone from garmin? When it will be fixed?

Thank you for this post. It clarified a lot of confusion with what I was seeing. Heart rate and sleep analysis seem to work completely fine. I didn't even realize previous days' data was getting deleted until I read this.

One other note on Steps. I noticed that if you kill the Apple Health app and restart it, it seems to force a steps sync. Doesn't help with any of the other issues, though.

Is there an official way to file a bug for the Garmin Connect app? I figure many loud voices should help speed the process. Seeing the moderator post it seems they are aware of the issue, but may not realize the full impact of it.
