Weather widget: waiting for data

Same problem here. Really annoying!

And strangely enough, notifications still come through, even though the watch does not want to sync.

Smart notifications do not require the Garmin Connect Mobile app to be among the list of active apps (in the foreground or background) on Android, Windows ‑10 Mobile or iOS in order to work; just maintaining the Bluetooth connection is sufficient. On the other hand, the Calendar and Weather widgets require connection to the GCM app itself in order to request and obtain relevant data, which will not otherwise be pushed or broadcast by the mobile device.

Any idea why this is happening?

What, specifically why the GCM app on your iPhone would ‘freeze’ several times a day? I don't know, and since nobody else knows how you've configured either your watch or your iPhone (and what other apps you're running on either device), you won't get anything better than blind guesses.

Ever since I brought my Fenix 3 HR, the sync with GC (On iOS) freezes about 3-4 times per day. The ability to sync returnwedstrijd spontaneously after about an hour or so. Or I can manually fix it by quitting the GC app and relaunching.

At the same time, when this syncing freeze occurs, the weather widget on my Fenix 3 HR keeps saying "Waiting for data".

It's probably more to do with you not having a recent GPS location for the weather app to work with. I calibrate my altimeter or switch on the GPS on my phone before syncing with GCM and it seems to sort it out.

Thanks, but I don't think it has anything to do with the phone configuration. Like I said, I can force the sync by initiating a wifi sync from the watch itself, or by closing down the app on my phone and reopening it. It really just seems that the GCM app somehow loses connection to the watch or that a "process" from the CGM app keeps it busy for like an hour before actually syncing.

Thanks, but I don't think it has to do with iPhone configuration. Like I said, I can force a sync to start by closing and reopening the GCM app, or by manually initiating a WIFI sync on the watch. It's just that, for some reason, after about an hour, some GCM process seems to be disturbing the connection between phone and watch. When I try to do a manual sync via the GCM app, I get the following error.

Garmin pretty much 'broke' GCM iOS with the latest update in my opinion. Barely anything works that I use regularly. I have to reset GCM and reload every single day just to get my Fenix 3 HR to sync. I'd wait for the next update and see if your problem persists. God only knows when that update will be. In my mind, it should be immediate. If I'd paid for it (which in essence I have, given the cost of the hardware), I'd be asking for my money back.

Just to add some additional information, I did a full reset of my iPhone, and also a factory reset of the Garmin. I deliberately did not change anything (not even what's displayed on the watch face) from the factory defaults. After a few hours, the problem showed up again. Still find it hard to believe not more people are experiencing this issue as to me, it seems like a GCM issue rather than a Fenix 3 HR issue.
