LiveTrack Issues

Since the latest Garmin Connect update on iOS, LiveTrack is now just about completely useless.

The beginning of the ride shows up and that's it.

Since this problem, I have:

1) Uninstalled Garmin Connect and re-installed it
2) Unpaired / Paired Edge 1000 to iPhone
3) Factory Reset on Edge 1000

Many people with Edge 1000s have the same problem. See Edge 1000 Forum (https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?354317-LiveTrack-Issues)

All components are on latest software/firmware.

Also, at the end of the ride, the autosync feature no longer works. In fact, stopping the iOS app and/or restarting the Edge 1000 fails to make it sync. I must power down the iPhone, restart it, then restart the Edge 1000 and Garmin Connect and I will get it to sync.

Furthermore, *IF* the iPhone goes through an area where there is no cell service, the iOS app never reconnects to the Garmin servers and the ride dies there...

Another ride (30 mi) today and GCM 3.8.0.20 worked. I won't be uploading 3.8.1

Yup. Was using LT with GCM 3.8.2.0 all morning (five sessions) and it worked flawlessly [was a bit of a surprise as the S.E. Of England is having a lot of Internet connection issues atm].

  • Has anyone else had trouble syncing with an Edge gps (1000 in my case) after a Garmin Connect upgrade? GC finds my 1000, starts to sync and then fails. I have to shutdown GC and then a full reboot of my iPhone (holding power & home buttons)

After this, syncing occurs quickly and properly

No issues syncing with GC 3.8.0.20 and iPhone 6

GC *is* on your iPhone. No issues syncing with what device?

Am using an iPhone 6S+ and a VivoActive.
Bought both in November of last year, pretty much every update (until recently) I've had to reboot at least one or the other before syncing would occur. Usually, the only visual indicator of impending doom is the missing Bluetooth indicator on the watch. I try a watch reboot first as this usually fixes it. If not, then it's the phone.

GCM Livetrack Dropped signal twice today.

 45 mile ride, clear skies, no issues with other cellular services.
Livetrack lost signal twice nessitating a Garmin 520 Bluetooth disable/enable and GCM App Livetrack stop/restart.

Each re-start resulted with the Twitter window pop up. I don't have a Twitter account.
    Annoying......what's the problem.

    Garmin 520, 6S+ iOS 9.3.3 & GCM 3.8.2.0.

This is the second consecutive ride with similar glitches.

    Let's get a fix, Garmin!!!

Same here - LIVE TRACK use to provide comfort but nit any longer

I appreciate Shawns comments. At least it's an indication that the issue is being taken seriously. Is there any indication as per when the issue will be fixed?
My wife always gets worried when I'm out on the long runs in the woods. Live track helps to calm her down ;)

Same here. After my road accident my wife took comfort from being able to track me to know I was still moving. But these days it's more of an annoyance for her because it NEVER WORKS ANYMORE.

I honestly do not think anyone at Garmin is taking this seriously. If so, it would have been fixed long ago. Remember those beautifully produced cycling ad's showing how the "Garmin Team" used Live Track to train. Haven't seen those ad's in years……..
  • Test run with FR630

Did a test run yesterday afternoon. I had no issues with Live track.
My wife could follow me the whole run. Also the pace, heartrate etcetera.

    Urgent Fix Needed

Garmin has received reports of LiveTrack not working properly. Teams are investigating the root cause so that this can be resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Can Garmin please fix this by Friday. I am riding in the RideLondon 100 on Sunday!!!! and this is the sole reason for having the Edge 810. Many people have sponsored me on the understanding they can track my progress and now I look like a liar. this is for charity so hurry up Garmin.
