No step totals in activites

I use activities to track my walks over lunch. After the Garmin Connect Mobile update (ver 3.*, fall 2015) on my iPhone, the activities no longer show step counts. Am I missing something?
You won't see the step count any more when you bring up a particular activity in Garmin Connect online in your browser either.
You can still see the step count in the table on the Activities page in Garmin Connect online (yes, even in your iPhone's web browser), if you select the Steps column for inclusion.
