Edge 810 and Garmin Connect Mobile on iOS iPhone 6s won't connect / sync

I have suddenly encountered a problem where my Edge 810 won't sync with my iPhone. Basically:

1. I can pair the iPhone and Edge using the Bluetooth section on the iPhone, no problems.
2. I then get a prompt to allow Garmin Connect to access the Edge
3. When I go to Garmin Connect on the iPhone, and go to the Devices section in the settings it says "No Devices Paired". It does, however say that I have an Edge 810 registered with Garmin Connect (online). If I select that and follow the prompt to say "Add this Device" it just gives me instructions to pair the Phone and Edge together, which I've already done.
4. On the Edge 810 in the Bluetooth section it shows my phone as Disconnected, yet if I turn off Bluetooth on the phone, the Edge beeps and says "Phone Disconnected" which leads me to believe the two devices were connected all along but the Edge just doesn't recognise it for some reason.

I've tried removing / forgetting the devices on both Edge and iPhone multiple times and re-pairing. I've also done a Master Reset on the Edge. Nothing works.

Has anyone encountered this problem and, if so, what did they do to fix it ? FWIW I can sync fine by connecting the Edge via USB cable to Garmin Connect on my desktop without a problem but that's not really acceptable when I want to do things like Live Tracking or to sync when I'm not near my computer.

Thanks in advance.
  • I'm having the same issue with the bluetooth connection between my 810 and my iPhone se

both devices are on the latest software too.
  • Edge 1000 same problem

When I got the Edge 1000 I paired it up with iPhone 5 and Garmin Connect on PC - worked OK

Then we upgraded phone to iPhone 6S

Phone and Edge say they are not paired but appear to be so because if I change name of phone on phone - it instantly changes on Edge, even though Edge says "Status; Disconnected"

Courses written on PC on Garmin Connect instantly Bluetooth their way to my Garmin Connect Mobile app - but getting them to the Edge is a hit and miss affair, sometimes Bluetooth works, other times I have to connect via USB to PC

I have this exact problem on my Edge 510 and my iphone 6S running iOS 9.3.1.
I email Garmin support with the issue last week and I have not received a response.

I have tried everything, to include reseting the Garmin device to no avail.

The issue is something about the latest update to Garmin Connect and iOS 9.3.1 firmware update.

Someone please post if they are able to resolve the issue.

The latest app update on iOS from Friday did not fix the issue, I believe it is a firmware issue with the device from Garmin.

    Exact the same issue here.

Both devices running on latetest software update.
Tried everything from unpairing/pairing the two devices again over deleting the Connect App and reinstall, hard reset the edge to delete all network settings on the i Phone - nothing worked.

Anyone got an answer from garmin?
  • Same problem

I have exactly the same problem.

From the start I had a Edge 510 working with a Iphone 5s. A few weeks agon I upgraded the phone to a Iphone 6s, and that´s where my problems started. I could pair the units but the Edge displayed "Not connected". I´ve followed every tip I have found on the Internet (including Garmin recomendation) but nothing helped.

Then I get in Contact Garmin technical support (i Sweden). After been trying "all" they asked me to send the unit to them. After one week (yesterday) I recived a paket from Garmin with a new Edge 810 :). Happy for a while... Then I started the paring process - same problem:(:(:(

So now I have a brand new Edge 810 that I just can sync to a PC with a Cable...

As all of you - I´m wating for the answer from Garmin.

EDIT - MY PROBLEM IS SOLVED!

    Hello again!

Yesterday I upgraded my Iphone to the latest ios-version. I was not allowed to uppgrade it before because my company have to test every version first. After the upgrade "everything" works.

    Good look everyone !

    Same problem with Edge 510/iphone6

I am having the same problem as AMJORDAN since last week. Have also taken the same steps to no avail.
Software latest version on both units. USB-cable sync works fine.
Hope Garmin finds a fix soon.

Fixed after reinstalling firmware on iphone

Hi. My problem is solved after I did a full reinstallation of the firmware on my iphone. If you have the same problem, check if you can sync your Garmin unit with another iphone. If that works, the problems is not with your Garmin, but with your phone and a full reset of your phone should help.
