Exactly what is included in intensity minutes? I did a 35min swim at high intensity and it doesn't reflect yet I walked for 40min the next day at an average pace and it is showing in my intensity minutes

I swam this week too, and it didn't add to my intensity minutes. Disappointing.
  • Why swimming activity with hr monitoring doesn't count Garmin?

It's my primary sport and could not figure out why this was not being added till I saw this on their site.

Swimming activities with or without heart rate are not designed to give Intensity Minute credit. (from garmin website)

  • It’s all a bit bonkers. I appear to have move IQ recording me cycling at the same time as I was recording it using the Garmin cycling software. There seem to be many glitches of this sort and tracking your activity becomes more farcical The longer you use a device. Just about given up checking stuff now. Sleep times are all messed up too. They used to work but haven’t for months. Sick of manual editing every day. The last two days nothing has been recorded. What is going on. Fenix 6.

  • Did you get a Move IQ event on the watch at the same as you were recording cycling on the same watch?

  • Nope. No sign of Move IQ when using. Mind you there has never any sign of Move IQ on the device regardless of what you are doing. Only appears in the app after the fact.

  • Move IQ is not displayed on the device as far as I know, but that was not the question.

Your issue was that you had a Move IQ event at the same time as you logged a bike ride, right?

Move IQ is often misunderstood so I suggest you turn it off.

  • Perhaps your question was ambiguous. If you had said from your watch it would make sense. And yes I got a move IQ recording from the watch at the same time as I was recording an event Ie cycling. That meant a doubling up of the event on the app and associated exercise minutes etc.

  • The doubling of intensity minutes seems to be a common issue with Move IQ.

The easiest solution is to just turn Move IQ off since it is of no real use. Do you need it for something?

  • Only for when I forget to turn on another widget or recording system on the watch when exercising. Its a short term fix but should clearly be deactivated by software on the watch whenever another recording method is in use. That could be both a Garmin and 3rd party issue depending on recording method. Thanks

  • Maybe they have the same thoughts about swimmers that they have about cyclists . The Edge series don't support intensy minutes at all. In all their ads they refer to the american health organisation bla bla bla. But when it come to cyclists it's not important. Or what's important is Garmin's greed. You must buy a second device to collect intensy minutes.
