Can't add new device on iPhone 4 - "next" not selectable

I can't add my Garmin watches in Garmin Connect 3.4.0.8 on the iPhone 4s (iOS 9.2.1), because the "next"-button is almost outside the screen... :( It's impossible to touch/press it.

I tried changing the text size of the phone (Dynamic Type) and the phone language, hoping for a solution. But nothing worked. Any ideas?

Similar problem with me to add vivosmart in iphone 4S.

Even "Switch control" is not working. Could you explain little more how to use switch control? is there any other setting along with turning on "switch control"

    Thanks!

I could fix it through "switch control" now. Needed to gain some expertise using this feature of apple :)

Anyhow, Garmin should look into fixing this issue in "Garmin connect" app.

    Thanks.

Hi! That is great you were able to get the work-around. Could you please explain exactly how you perform the procedure using the "switch control" - would really appreciate it!

    Hello,
I had the same problem, pairing my new vivosmart with my iphone 4S.
Greatly I've found this post, and after some trial/error, I managed to do it.

To ease the process, firstly, have your Garmin Connect app downloaded and already setup with your data.
Go to Garmin Devices, and to the menu where the 'Next' button is very hidden and unable to be pressed.
    Leave the Garmin app active.
Don't forget to activate the bluetooth in your iphone.

Has said before, you need to activate the "Switch Control" in your iphone, just go to General-Settings-Accessibility.
There, activate the 'Switch Control'. Then go to 'Switches', and 'Add New Switch..'. Select 'Screen' as source, then 'Full Screen', and in scanner choose 'Select Item'.
Now with the switch control activated, this will scan the active screen for 'buttons', showing a blue mark around it. If you press your screen, a new button appears indicatingthe action to be taken ('press').
With this, double tap your home button to show your active apps, and go to the Garmin Connect one.
There the scan will go over all the screen items, and when it goes through the 'Next' button, just tap on your screen and then do the 'press' button.

It's a bit tricky, but it made it work, and now I can fully take use of my Vivosmart.

    Hope this helps someone else.

Worked for me, with some addt'l tweaks

    Luis,

Thanks for providing details on the iPhone Accessibility | Switch Control | Scanning [forms] work around. Excellent work.

I liked the way you had the Garmin app open to where one cannot get to the Next button, had Bluetooth enabled, and had the Device ready to pair. It made using the Switch Control [form Scanning] way easier to work with (less points of failure).

For anyone who wants to try this method:

What Luis (and others) suggest is to use a particular iPhone Accessibility function to make Apple's iOS:

loop through each elements of any screen
    select the element
    pause
    prompt you to Tap
move to the next element after a second or two

This enables the user to select even hard-to-get form elements (like the Next button nobody can click in Garmin Connect on a iPhone 4s). The slick part is that the Home button still works the same while you are this particular Accessibility mode. So you can invoke Accessibility's form scanning , double-click the Home button, get to Garmin app with the form in question open and ready, let the Phone loop the form elements until it gets to the Next button. You simply wait to Tap the Next button, verify you made it to the next screen, then go back to Accessibility and toggle off the screen scanning. This is literally the only way to work the form in question until Garmin fixes it, and they should. Let your iPhone Operating System select the Next button for you, and wait for you to Tap. When you Tap the Next button, that's the end of your need for the Accessibility workaround.

As Luis instructed, have your Garmin app open, form filled out, ready to go. Have Bluetooth on. Have the device charged and ready to pair. Only then should you start the Accessibility hijinks.

As soon as you have successfully selected / tapped the Next button, and verified that you are on the next screen, immediately double-click the Start button, let iOS choose the Settings..Switch Control, tap, then let iOS get to stop the Switch Control toggle and tap to turn off Accessibility. Scanning screens will stop as soon as you toggle the Switch.

At that point, you're back to regular iPhone use and ready to continue pairing the device.

It is not easy to do this, and Switch Control does not sound like "make my phone loop through every screen I go to and select every single item for me and wait for me to Tap the item", but it works like a charm once you "get" it.

It took me 3-4 tries to figure out Accessibility and screen scanning but it was faster than returning the device, right?

Kudos to the folks who figured this out.
Kudos to Luis for writing this up and getting me past a rough start with Garmin.

Garmin, if you monitor these forums, I found this forum from Google "garmin connect next button". It came back with results from folks with an iPhone 4s and some 5's too. You might consider hiring an iOS developer as a consultant. Have them:

    move up each element 1/8"
    prevent labels from wrapping
    enable scrolling

I know a bunch of guys who could work on this issue for, like, an hour, and get this fixed for the next release.

BTW: the device is very high in initial quality, the rest of the app is pretty slick too.

    iPhone 4s incompatible with Connect

I have just found this out. Unbelievable that an App such as Connect was not tested on an iPhone4S. Thanks for the tips which did work.

    @Garmin get this fixed!
