Track HR Throughout the Day

I have a Vivosmart and a Heart Rate strap and monitor. I used during a walk with the Vivosmart and checked instant HR during the walk but I would like to see the graph with history. I would also like to track HR during my rest and sleep, and see the history in Garmin Connect. I really could not find any information online, is this possible? I understand if I am on an activity (running, cycling, etc) that is possible but I would like to track it throughout my day.

Thanks!!!
  • To track through the day you need a device with an optical HRM built in. I don't think any manufacturers support through-day/incindental HRM tracking using external belts/monitors.

Unfortunately, this means you won't be able to do it with your current device. You'll need to replace it with a Vivosmart HR, the new running watches with HRM built in (Forerunner 235/635 I think?), or Fenix3HR.
  • Thanks a lot for the quick reply and information. Interesting it needs the built in, I wouldn't imagine a difference and also thought wristbased HR were less accurate. Anyways, thanks again.

It's more about the communication with the HRM. A builtin one is always connected. A chest strap or external optical HRM needs to connect over ANT+/BTLE, and if it has been taken off then that connection won't work. This will cause additional drain while searching, people will complain of battery drain on the watch.
