Any updates on Healthkit integration?

Looking to replace FitBit with Garmin for 24 hour tracking (either a Vivosmart HR or get a fancy Fenix 3 HR). The date on this FAQ is only 6 days ago, but what is listed is identical to a post stickied on this forum 1.3 years ago. I think this is important because I am using it to sync data to other apps connected to Healthkit.

  • Health only receives Steps, Calories and Distance from the Steps card.
  • Health only shows data from two weeks prior to Health being enabled in GCM.
  • Health does not support weight or sleep.
  • Health will not show any information from running activities, this includes distance or calories.
  • Health will not show any information from cycling activities, this includes distance or calories.
  • Health calories will not always match up with the calories on the calories card on GCM, this is because we are only using calories from the steps card.

Any updates on if Garmin Connect will be adding items #3-5? I'm not sure what to make of #6; I'd assume that a Garmin model with HR (i.e. 24 hour HR data) is the most accurate and so I don't care about the steps card?
  • I can tell you that Connect does export running activities including distance, calories, and steps to Health. You should be able to get weight to Health if you use MyFitnessPal as an intermediary.

    Fenix+myfitnesspal

I use fenix 3 hR and myfitnesspal. Works perfectly well. Have now added cadence and speed sensors for cycling. Has calculated vo2 max without a strap. Fabulous upgrade over Fitbit.

Am curious why you want to use HealthKit? What value does it offer you?

I'm happy that your experience with Garmin Connect works perfectly...I too would like to eventually get the Fenix 3 HR, but cannot just a $600 purchase for information that is useless and doesn't transfer across apps. Issues with integration of myfitnesspal health kit etc. seem to be everywhere...not to mention the bugs within their own app that don't work after months of complaints.

It seems to see many Fenix 3 users like the experience...how is that with all of the complaints from everyone else?

People are much less likely to come to forums like these when everything is working fine and dandy. For the most part the active people will be those currently having issues or (in my case) those actively awaiting a new product and eager for info snippits as they come out.

Also keep in mind that everyone is different, and want different things from products. Some will love the experience as it suits their needs, others will hate it because their needs are different and unsuited.

I did purchase the vivosmart HR last week and I am shocked that basically the only thing transferred to Apple health by the connect mobile app is steps. No HR data. No workout. It doesn't even read my weight. Is there any reason behind?

The connect web app is way to slow, and anyway I want to be able to integrate data from various suppliers into one store. Garmin not supporting this means I may go to return the unit and get one that does integrate with Apple health.

Thanks for any comment on this,
    Holger

    I feel the same bad!
I hope GC can improve the user experience.
    1. sync by hand or automation.
    2.export weight and sleep data.
    3.sync much faster!

As someone mentioned, you can link your Garmin Connect and MFP accounts to sync your weight to Apple Health via MFP. You can import cycling data to Apple Health, via Strava, if you have Garmin Connect linked to your Strava account. There isn't a solution for importing sleep data, as far as I know.

Sync Steps to Garmin Connect frm Health

Is there any update on syncing my steps from Apple Watch up to Garmin Connect?

I'm using iSmoothRun to get my workouts up to Garmin but still do not see my step count on Garmin Connect.

Has anyone found a way to do this yet?

    Thanks
    Debbie
