Can I share my runs (status) on social media without the map (location of the run)?

Just wonder, if there is a setting so that I can share my runs (status) on social media without showing the map (location of the run)?
  • Figured out a way to do it through Nike+ running app. But I still don't know if it can be done via the Garmin app.
  • As far as I'm aware there's no way to do that. In fact I posted a thread asking the exact same thing only a few hours before you did.

Hopefully there is something we've just both missed. Right now I push all my activities out to Endomondo and share from there (they have an option to hide maps which I have enabled for all new workouts), but once I get a Fenix 3 HR I'll be looking to cutting down on the number of services I use which means I'll probably be more eager to share the occasional thing straight from Garmin. If my start or end point is home, a friends home, or work, I'll definitely not want the map being shown but I may want other metrics shared.
  • thanks for confirming that. i guess we are stuck with 3rd party app for sharing for now

  • I think you can set up a "privacy zone" or whatever it's called.
That way it won't show where you start and end your workouts.
I don't use it so I don't have details. Maybe I even mixed it up with some other service.
    Look it up.
  • There's no privacy zone function on Garmin Connect ... Strava & Ride/Run with GPS both have privacy zones.

I have Garmin set to automatically upload to Strava but keep the rides private. Strava's privacy zone feature lets me keep my rides public but mask where I start if the start is within a privacy zone.
