Firmware update with iPad or iPhone

I just bought a 920xt and I want to use it with my iPad and/or my iPhone 6. The problem I'm having is figuring out how to update the firmware on the 920xt. I tried going to the wifi setup but it tells me that I have to setup wifi in Garmin Express - the problem is that Express isn't available for iOS devices and I can't find anywhere in the Garmin Connect mobile app to update the firmware. Any help would be appreciated!

Update via wifi

You will need to do a one connection to garmin express on a PC or Mac you can then configure a wifi connection, you only need to do this once, for any further wifi connections you can do it from the device I can with my edge1000

Thereafter it should function with a wifi connection to upload activities and also download firmware updates and segments etc, but not maps if your device has maps this can only be done with a wired connection

AFAICT one can't update firmware with a wi-fi iOS device. If you can, please could you say how this is done.
