Vivosmart won't pair with iPhone 5s

I have set up the connect app on my phone and the vivosmart is connected to my iphone via bluetooth(I typed in the number code and it's connected in my iphone settings), but it's not pairing with the app or phone. Every time I try and search for the device the app can't find it and my vivosmart just constantly says syncing... Please help, I've been looking all over the site for an answer.

I've never used a vivo or any garmin device before, or used the connect app, so that is all pretty confusing.
  • You made the same mistake most people who haven't done this before have made.

    You should not pair the vivosmart with your phone's bluetooth. You pair it with the Connect app only. It's in the documentation but most people miss it.

    So the thing to do is to forget the device in the phone's bluetooth settings and then open the app, go to devices, and press the plus sign to add the vivosmart.

    Sometimes, after people have made that mistake, pairing becomes hit or miss with the app so it might need you try more than once. If it simply can't pair with the app after a few tries, try rebooting your phone. I know of others who actually uninstalled and then reinstalled the app to successfully pair but that really shouldn't be necessary.

    Of course, you need to be connected to the internet on your phone to do the pairing as it will communicate with Connect on the web to set itself up.

    Do not add the watch to bluetooth in your phone. Garmin Connect will do that for you. Remove the watch from bluetooth in the phone if it is added there.
