** Not able to grab Steps, Walking + Running Distance data from Apple Health to GC **

Dear all,

Just got my vivosmart HR today, was really excited to start using it. I got everything setup in GC on my iOS and enabled sharing data for Steps and Walking + Running Distance in the Apple Health app, however, after syncing, none of the data were added to GC. Wondering if anyone know what I am missing here?

Thanks in advance!

    Crappy App !!

to get the sync setup you need to uninstall GC, by reinstall, be sure that you are conecting your device in the install process, then you 'll get (if lucky) the health integration. But the sync doesn't work properley, you get the total steps synced in health

Well, how did the data from Vivosmart HR come to Apple Health ? I mean if you collected it with the Garmin app (which is done by default) and Garmin wrote to Health, why would it need to read it back ?

Shouldn't GC be able to read the data from Health?
In Health, there's an option to share data in Health to GC which I enabled it.
I am just trying to sync all the data I had in Health before the purchase of my Vivosmart HR to GC. Is this not possible?

Oh, I've never seen an app READ previous data from Health. Don't really know the specifics of the Healthkit API if this is even possible. There are apps who can WRITE to Health for older workouts, like Strava (if you scroll the Me activity list and/or enter old workouts, the data gets written if not already there), but reading is another thing.

Also if your Vivosmart is the main data collection device you wear 24/7, I'd rather set it up to not read any of the data collected elsewhere, since you'll get it doubled (for instance Vivosmart steps and iPhone steps). You didn't state any specifics, but you have to be extra careful with more Health app integrations you add and web services connections (for instance Garmin <-> myFitnessPal , or Garmin <-> Strava). They all transfer data around, but you have to limit some of the permissions in Health to not get double data at the end.

See this post (https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?327804-Steps-not-transferring-in-Apple-Health&p=772615#post772615) where I've explained, how to get only Garmin Connect steps into Health, it stands the same for Walking+Running Distance section.

As rule of thumb would be having a 24/7 wearable that's the main data collector, Garmin Connect as main data aggregator then using the Apple Health just to feed data from Garmin TO it, not from it.

thanks for your time and explanation, i guess i thought it's possible to read my old data from my phone before i got the Vivosmart, hopefully some it's possible. Thanks again!
